Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm - Great for Chicago Commuters I bought this coat following a slushy snow storm where my super warm Patagonia coat could not keep my dry. I was choosing between this one and NF Arctic Parka. The Chelsea is significantly longer (knee grazing) than the Arctic Parka (about 4 inches above the knee) and is much more roomy its NF counterpart. I commuted to work this morning with a temperature of -3F and wind chills of -20F, even crossing the Chicago River. Every part of me that was covered by the Chelsea remained warm. A few notes on the hood. It's the best ever! With a hat underneath, the hood kept my head very warm without impeding my vision. Highly recommend this coat for cold weather commuters.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too wide at bottom And didnt keep me warm I looked long and hard for a waterproof down coat that would not dwarf me as I am 5-2 and 115. First problem for me was the hood as I could barely see out of it and found the adjustments impossible. I was shocked at how much cold air whooshed up the coat as I thought it was more tapered at the bottom - not a good fit for a slim person . maybe better for someone with bigger hips and thighs to fill up the space. In the end didn't keep me warm as it just had too much bottom flare for air entry. In just a few minutes outside it didn't keep me warm except for on my back- my arms and everything below the waist were cold in 20-25 degrees ; that's not what I expected for this money

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So cozy! I live in Chicago and today the windshield was below 13. This jacket kept me so cozy and warm. I am usually a small but went with an extra small just because the small felt too open on the chest (I'm a 32 band size). But overall loved it!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Warm and comfortable! I bought this coat to replace a north face down jacket. I wanted a smooth, classy appearance without loosing the warmth. This jacket accomplishes both. It does run a little small in the hips, but a very comfortable jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best waterproof jacket This is a seriously waterproof jacket, nice style (this jackets are difficult to be trendsetters). It is light, which is amazing, but also, it is not the warmest.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The real deal I've wanted this coat for years but had a hard time justifying spending the money on it. In those few years, I spent on money on other coats that just didn't compare or cut it. This winter I decide to splurge on a coat that I can count on for years and years. This coat is extremely well made and attractive. Not a puffy marshmallow down coat. I like all the details, like fleece cuffs and fleece lined zip pockets. This thing is WARM. If you want a winter coat that will allow you to spend some time outdoors in freezing weather, this is it. I have to unzip when I'm inside stores so I don't overheat. The length is perfect. I can sit down on a cold wet surface and not worry. As others have said, the coat makes an annoying squeaky noise. I can see how this would turn some people away. For me, its the price I will pay for a coat I can rely on to keep me toasty and dry. Looking forward to using this for many, many years. I recently decided to get on board with Project 33 - paring down my wardrobe to only workhorse essentials that I absolutely love. This will be a part of my 'capsule' wardrobe and having a solid piece of clothing is well worth the investment IMO. In my experience, Marmot makes super quality and thoughtfully-designed clothing.
