Product Reviews
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too small in the sleeves for layering I'm 6'2", 200 lbs. I have a 43" chest and 36" sleeve. While wearing the jacket over a t-shirt, I could not move my arms 90 at the shoulders or elbows without the material binding, flattening the down, and constricting motion. This is not the case with other similarly warm size L jackets I own, so I attribute it to poor fit- maybe to keep the design simpler and the price more reasonable, I'm not sure. I think the need is there for a durable, warmer than average down jacket for moving in the mountains, so if they revised the design I would try it again. The current one didn't work for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great OR jacket but size down OR has created this jacket to compete in the urban wear arena. Like NF bringing back their old designs and jackets becoming "roomier" that is where is jacket fits in. Now I am too old to be on trend but by going down a size, I get a bulkier puffy that is warm and not urban baggy - which for me - I like. I am 5'10", 170 pounds, 40" chest, 30" waist and usually do a size Medium. This time, I went with the Small and it works! So check it out - but know what the design is meant to be and size to your taste.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Puffy out there for the price First time buying OR, and I am quite satisfied with my purchase. The jacket is great on its own and has plenty of room for layers without making you feel like a marshmallow. I bought a size large (I'm 5'8" & 200lb), and could have easily ordered a medium; however, I wanted a jacket big enough to layer under. It really shines in windy/snowy weather and I was plenty warm meandering around. I got it at the tail end of winter and didn't have a chance to take it out in anything below 20°, but am quite impressed at its warmth. I can't wait for next winter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great down jacket! I am 5'10" and the large fits me great. I love everything about the jacket except the wrist elastic. The elastic is a little too big and not adjustable so it gets a touch annoying. Other than that the jacket is great and I would recommend it. Perfect for 35-55 degree weather!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all-purpose down hoodie I just received this jacket and wanted to give an initial impression review because the fit and finish is spot on. I am 6' tall with 41" chest and 34.5" sleeves and the Medium is a perfect fit to allow layering of a base layer and mid-weight fleece. I have always struggled with fit of OR tops: M too small (especially across chest, back and sleeves too short); L too big. I live in Montana where there's real winter and you actually need to layer under a puffy, so this roomier fit is a much appreciated update to OR's previous cut in the Transcendent line. Sleeve length is perfect, hitting me just above thumb with arms hanging at sides. You can really feel the extra insulation in the wrist cuffs, which is an awesome attention to detail in a spot that usually wears out first. The face fabric seems more bomber than previous Transcendent, and we will see if OR improved down retention (my previous Transcendent leaked a lot of down so I returned it). My only minor gripe (and this applies across OR jackets) is that the collar is too low. A zipped up down hoodie or outerwear jacket should cover your lower face to provide coverage in cold, blowing conditions. OR insists on their collars ending at your Adam's apple, which I've never understood. But all in all, way to go on the fit, traceable down, recycled fabrics, etc. of this new Coldfront! Excited to be heading into winter with this puffy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice down jacket For my military folks here, a Large sized this is almost exactly the same size of a Medium Regular ECWCS Gen III Level 7. Which means if you are a medium sized person, buy a large if you want to layer up; buy a medium if you wanna wear this over a base layer. My only complaint so far is the fact it doesn't have a two-way zipper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well worth it I cannot say enough good things about this jacket. It's so warm and it looks good, too! I get compliments every time I wear it. The inner pockets are great for storing a beanie or scarf and the hood keeps your head warm even in the coldest of conditions. I recently wore this jacket with a t-shirt and cotton sweater underneath, and though I was in very cool weather with wind chill up to -15C, it kept me very warm. So worth it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm and comfy puffer I ordered the small and medium as I was unsure about the sizing. I prefer not to be swimming in my jackets and went with the small. I have a 43" chest and am 5'5, muscular build, and normally where medium t-shirts. The medium was just too big for my taste. In comparison to my Patagonia Nano-Puff size small jacket, this one fits much better around my chest and waist. I'm sure I need a size medium Patagonia jacket now as I've grown unfortunately since I purchased my Nano-Puff a few years ago. This replaced my older Outdoor Research jacket which was also a size small, but was slim fitting. I prefer this size of this better as I could layer another shirt if I wanted to. Whereas with the slim fitting size small jacket, I could realistically do only one layer. What I like about the jacket: •It's longer than my Patagonia Nano-Puff which is also small. •I can just wear with a t-shirt and I stay plenty warm for Sacramento valley winter weather in California. •Lined pockets makes for a comfy place to place your hands. •Deep internal drop pockets •Great for everyday wear. I've had it for a month or so now and I've had no problem with it's loftiness. It's retained the puffy-ness as when if first got it. I have yet to test it outdoors in more harsh conditions like snow, but knowing the quality of the Pertex shell from my previous Outdoor Research jacket, I'm confident it will do great.
