Rated 2 out of 5 by from Unfortunate Design Flaw At first glance, this looks to be the best Olympus yet. Upon testing the shoe, it has a major design / material flaw. I managed to blow out both shoes at the same time ( left and right) at the inner sides, where the breathable mesh meets the more durable support. This was actually an similar issue back in the day for Olympus and potentially fixed by Olympus 3.5. Anyways the pros are that Olympus 4 is far less bulky, has much better lugs / grip, and is aesthetically awesome. The con is that it only lasted me 6 weeks! The rest of the shoe has a lot life left, sad. Will give the Olympus 4 one more chance. I want to love this shoe! But not durable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Altra Yet This is your best Altra shoe I've owned to date, and that includes the last three versions of the Olympus. You made everything better on this shoe, even the shoelaces (Seriously...those laces rock!). On another note, please please please put Vibram outsoles on all your shoes, even if it costs a little more. Your proprietary outsoles don't come close to the grip on Hong Kong trails as any shoe with Vibram. My last two Lone Peak versions and the latest Timp version are almost unwearable on our trails if it's the slightest bit wet. Thanks for making great products, however. They fit my needy (and weird-shaped) feet just perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is now my 'go to' Altra trail shoe. I have wide feet and have done my last three through hikes with lone peaks. I decided to try The Olympus shoe to see if the extra cushioning of the sole will prevent that tenderfoot feeling at the end of the day I got from the Lone Peaks. Thankfully I love the comfort of the Olympus shoe as Lone Peaks went to the dark side and became yet another narrowed up redesign. HEY Altra! normal foot people have a million choices! Why would you leave your wide footed fans? So goodbye Lone peaks-Hello Olympus Hopefully the Olympus remain wide. The comfort of the cushion and wide toe box is amazing. Guess I'll need to stock up just in case.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My best hiking shoe yet I have been hiking/backpacking with Lone Peak 4.0 and Timp 1.5 for a while and, although I like both, they aren't quite cushioned enough for rocky trails. I purchased the Olympus 4.0 specifically to get greater stack height and more protection from sharp rocks, while still having the advantages of a trail runner for hiking. The Olympus 4.0 turned out to be excellent. Much better cushioning from rocks, they are incredibly lightweight and I'm pleasantly surprised by the stability. I was concerned about stability with the 33 mm stack height and it turns out they're more stable than my Lone Peak 4.0. Very pleased so far.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Mid-sole Foam Wore Off The first few runs I loved these shoes. But soon started noticing wear on the mid-sole and could feel every stone under my feet. I thought this shoe was intended for rugged trail running? Why would Altra use foam? The lugs wore off completely! Poor design. After about 100 miles running I contacted Altra customer service because warranty stated 300-500 miles. They said this was normal wear and tear and they would offer me 15% off my next pair of Altras. They also told me that maybe this happened because of the zero drop sole! Not going to buy another pair of Altras. I want my shoes to last more than 100 miles. Poor design and poor customer service.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from If you're looking for a classic Altra, this is not it The Olympus 4 does not fit the bill for a classic Altra shoe. The toe box is narrower and suffocates the toes. The sole is incredibly big. If you like walking on a one inch rubber insulating sole that has no feedback, then you may like this shoe. Reminds me of the Hoka philosophy, which I thought was the opposite of Altra. I had a lot of trouble balancing and using these shoes after wearing Lone Peaks for a year. Further, the shoes did not feel like they were zero drop. I could not find anywhere on the website if they were or not, but wearing them makes me think they totally aren't. I would not recommend these shoes and was severely dissapointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Roomy and Super Plush This one was totally worth the wait. I liked the Olympus 3.5, but always thought it was a little too loose, so I didn't wear them much. The 4.0 seems a little more "locked down" and stable, yet just as soft. Perfect for logging lots of miles and keeping your feet happy. With that being said, the ample cushioning does slightly compromise stability - simply by design - so if you're going to be on technical terrain you should switch to something a little lower to the ground like the Timp 2.0, which has been my main shoe since it came out last year. If you have a wide forefoot or just like giving your toes more breathing room, get to know Altra's whole lineup because they have something for everyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would definitely buy again I love this shoe! I'm a long time Altra customer. This is by far my favorite. I bought and trained with them for a month completing 3 training trail runs of 18, 21, 21miles. Then headed of to the Grand Canyon for Rim to Rim to Rim. They preformed excellent. Cushy and responsive and never a loss of traction. Didn't have to be concerned where I landed on the trail. Rocks don't matter with this shoe. Completed the course with no blisters and feet were sore but overall good. Thanks Altra please keep these in stock. I noticed you no longer had my size 13 available. I hope this is short term.

Please, you list them in wide sizes. I want a 10. Not a ten wide. Are there wide sizes, or do you have them listed wrong?

Asked by: Dan72
Hey there, thanks for your question. The Altra Olympus 4 Shoe is available in both Wide and Regular width lasts. It looks like we mainly have the wide sizes left but there is 10 available in the Black Steel colorway. I hope this helps!
