Come back! from
We want footshape! All of these shoes saying that the shoe is too narrow should have scared me off. I decided to test a pair anyways. They are so narrow! Even more narrow than my Hokas. Timp 1.5 was a great width. These are just like any other shoe. I keep seeing responses from Altra that we should just size up. That does not help when the issue is with the width, not length. Most runners tend to size up anyways, are they suggesting we size up 2 sizes? Those would be like clown shoes. Altra, PLEASE take a took at your plans and take all of these negative reviews into account. Runners love(d) you because you made shoes that fit. Now your shoes just like any other.

Better than Timp 2 but still not good enoughTried them side by side with my remaining Timp 1.5. Same length, same insole width. Height at the toes is definitely improved compared to Timp2, almost sufficient. However, for the correct length and heel fit, the front upper is extremely tight. I could tolerate them for only a few miles before I had to return them. I have been using the Timp exclusively for my 50 and 100 mile races. The Olympus has too much cushioning and bother my knees, the LPs not enough cushioning for a long race. What am I supposed to do, train with the LP and race with a different brand/heel drop ? Sorry Altra, but after 30+ pairs it's time to say farewell and look elsewhere.

Major Design Flaw, Shoe Falls Apart After First UseFirst off... the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn. This would be my forever shoe if not for the fatal design flaw, which I thought was maybe a bad batch with these other reviews, but they are accurate that the shoe top layer becomes separated after first use. I loved the fit and feel so much, I almost considered keeping them even in this condition, but the amount of debris being caught in there and the idea of them catching on something on a run was worrisome. I decided to return. My first experience with Altra may be my last - which I'm sad to say. Pictures shown were after a day in St. George, maybe 12-14 miles put on them. Started to fall apart after 4.

Altra continues to ruin good shoesAs with many others, I'm a long time Altra user of Lone Peaks, Timp, Torin, Torin Plush, Paradigm, Escalante, and even most of the casual shoes. It seems like each new release is another step towards the mediocrity of all other shoes. The footshape that I came to love is gone. The low volume, narrow fit for the middle and front of the shoe doesn't work. Every good step Altra has made in the heel, two mid sole options, tread improvements on the trail shoes, is wasted with a narrow toe box and low vamp. The roomy toe box is what made Altra special. The stated solution of going up a 1/2 size isn't a solution at all. It is a band-aid for poor design of what Altra's customer base wants.

Extremely DisappointedI have two pair of timp 1 and they have been a fantastic shoe. I was really excited to get these. To replace my worn out timps. The first pair I ordered were a half size too big. All 7 pairs of my altras are 12.5 but for some reason I had to return and order a 12. No big deal I guess. The second pair fit great but something didn't feel right. My heel was not secure. I measured and compared these to my two other pair of timp 1 and the collar height of the shoe has been reduced by about 3/16". Im not even going to try running in these due to the fact that my heel slides up and down just walking around my house. Very disappointed in these shoes. Altra, you don't need to reinvent the wheel on every new model of shoe.

Why not leave well enough alone!Loved the TIMP 1.5 and the earlier version! Avoided the TIMP 2 after reading all the negative reviews about the fit being now too narrow.. After contacting Altra customer support I was hopeful that the TIMP 3 would resolve that issue. They wrote, "the new Timp 3 should have a much improved fit and feel over the Timp 2". No such luck and it was obvious just looking at them that they were not as wide in the toe box as the TIMP 1.5, Double dang as I also convinced my girlfriend to buy a pair and they were too narrow for her too. I would love to find another shoe by Altra that fit like the TIMP 1.5. Maybe the Lone Peak but I don't any of see those available in wide on this website. Please make a TIMP 4 that fits.

Timp 1.5 is long goneI own altras of all styles. Leather work shoes, gym, casual hiking, triathlons and trail running. I've met more people that miss the Timp 1.5 than have liked any model since. Heavy toe box pinch right at the first MTP joint. Firmer cushion than the 1.5 in my opinion. Both have same durability issues. Just a bummer I buy these to encourage a splayed toe lifestyle and now they're progressing towards every other generic brand of shoes toe box fit. How bout a wider toe box option for the OG altra fans? Maybe the voices will be heard one day instead of being forced to encourage new brands.

Came apart less than 10 miles inFirst off, these shoes are extremely comfortable and I loved the fit. Unfortunately that's where the love ends. The lamination started coming apart about 5 miles in and at 10 miles it was AWFUL. The were losing so much of their structure after just 10 miles. I've been wearing Timps for years (1.5s and then the 2s) and as far as fit and comfort these were my favorite. Wish they would've held up. Returned and will probably go back to Brooks Cascadias which I wore for years before going to the Timp 1.5. It sucks as I really did like the zero drop in these shoes.
