Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far, love them! I just received my Escalante Racer '19 in black/gold. They fit like a glove! I have had a pair of Escalante for several months and the Racer is just as comfortable, maybe even better! I usually wear a 10 in sport shoes and these fit true to size. I often use Correct Toes and have them on now with the Racer, trying them out in the house. They are so comfortable and look terrific. My only concern is the integrity of the mesh by my big toes. That was a problem with my Lems (which I also love.) Just hoping a hole doesn't develop. Can't wait to try this Racer on long walks! I'm not a runner but think these will be great for everyday wear, workouts, etc.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great shoe I work in the hospital setting, always on my feet/moving around. I first had the Torin 1.5 but wanted something a little less bulky and came across the escalante racer '18. I got the NYC edition and was quite happy with them. Stylish and comfortable. Many people have commented on them. It was time for new ones and I am over the moon with my 4th of July edition escalante racer '19. A great design of one blue shoe, one red shoe, American flag and USA proudly displayed. Love this shoe! My only complaint is how open the mesh is at the toes for spills or other things of that nature, but love how breathable it makes the shoe. A little give and take. And they're so light!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect shoe I sure hope Altra makes this shoe a part of their permanent lineup-the shoes are incredible-light,responsive, comfortable. They have the perfect cushion-not too firm, not too soft- can feel the road in a good way. They mold to my feet without being at all too tight, I wear them sockless with no hotspots or rubbing. Also not too much plushness on inner of shoe (like the original Escalante) but they are so so comfortable. I have the NY version and they are super stylish-earlier Altra shoes I'd call my "baby shoes"; these babies have grown up! I'd love these exact shoes in a trail version too-just add a bit of grip to the outsole and they'd be great. Thanks Altra!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I PR'd in this shoe! Absolutely the Escalante Racer! I wore them out of the box for a half marathon this past weekend and pr'd by 8 minutes with a time of 1:53! It was my first half marathon under 2 hours. I love how the shoes grip to the road but cushioned enough to protect your feet from injury. Most importantly, I have struggled with hip issues, particularly in my right hip and since moving to Altra Running (Escalante + Racer specifically) my hip has gone away and that alone is priceless. There is a definite adjustment period to move to the Altra line but worth the process!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this! The Tokyo model is the best ever! I adore the Escalante Racer, and this is my third pair. I was just wishing that Altra had a shoe in black with gold trim, when lo and behold, this beauty appeared online! It feels great, super light, and it's stylish enough to wear anywhere. The only quibble I have, and this goes for all Altras, is that the sole is thick and stiff. I really wish you guys would make a shoe with a thin flexible sole. I must have the foot shape, but I'd love a properly minimalist option as well. That would be perfection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE THIS SHOE (and I'm not even a runner!) I've been a fan of the Altra Escalante since I found them - zero-drop, pain-free wear for those of us who have (invisible but painful) bunion issues ... the only problem was that they just got too squishy too quickly for walking and crosstraining, which is what I mostly do. This shoe is firmer, less "sloppy" and I LOOOOVE the mesh, since I get warm feet quickly and it slows me down. Extra points for a beautiful black shoe - other colors look dirty too quickly when you wear them as much as I do! More like this, pleeeeease!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from What happened to the foot shape I love Altra because I have wide feet. When I received these, I was super excited to try them. The length in my usual size is fine but the width... holy cow guys, it feels like you've cut it in half! The toe box is ok (still narrower than previous lines) but everything back of that is super narrow, like the rise of the arch support in the middle of my foot narrow. Very disappointing, I've worn nothing else for years but if they're going to cave to looks and fashion over function I guess I'll have to go looking again. Majorly bummed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This shoe is a game changer!!! This is my first pair of Altras. I am in love! The roomy toe area solved a big problem for me- a second time that's slightly longer than my big toe. All the shoes I've run in previously agitated this. Also, I no longer need to keep my toe nails cut to the quick in order to avoid bruising and ingrown nails. The sock liner is great for keeping trail debris out and makes the show feel really secure. It's easy to get in and out of. The arch support is perfect, unlike other lightweight shoes I've tried. And these are lightweight and don't have a lot of excess sole, which I find gets in the way. This shoe is the perfect minimalist shoe. Lastly, I run both trail and road and these shoes are great on both! I will be buying more!!!
