I would buy the Paradigm 4.5 in multiples forever. NOT the 5I have never had a shoe as comfortable as The Paradigm 4.5. It was the miracle that gave my life back from Morton's Neuroma and Plantar Fasciitis. It was like stepping on a cloud with perfect support. I could wear it all day, walk trails or city streets or work out and remain pain free. No orthopedic shoe or insert could do this. The Paradigm 5 does not provide this miracle. It is NOT nearly as comfortable, my personal mobility is limited once more and the pain has returned. VERY DISAPPOINTING. Also...I loved the all black model that blended in with any situation, rather than making you look like you're going on a run...everywhere you go.

Paradigm 5Purchased Paradigm size 10 shoes every 6 mos for 4 years. My Paradigm 5 shoes purchased in Sept 2020 outside material noticeable frayed after 4 mos. In Jan 2021 new Paradigm shoes size 10 are too large/loose inside the shoe and makes walking difficult on treadmill & outside. I am concerned that this shoe may cause me to trip while walking. Your shoe quality has gone down since your company was purchased by VFC. I am in my 70's and wear these shoes 8 hours a day and basically just walk in them. I have always loved these comfortable shoes. I am so disappointed in my Paradigm 5 shoes and don't know what to do.

Very comfortable but probably not durableI bought this a month ago and walk an hour each day. The shoes are comfortable and have good cushioning. However the treads are already worn off on the outer part of the toes so I expect the shoe won't be too durable. I developed a blister on the inner heel where the insole ends and I'm guessing there was irritation right at the insole edge. I tried an arch support insole which gave a deeper heel cup, but it was like walking on rocks and made my foot pads tender. Much, much better with the regular insole. I'm hoping to develop a callous. I like the shoes but they're not perfect. The treads should be of better quality.

Why do shoe companies make changes??I've been running in the Altra Paradigm's for a while and have LOVED them. This is the first time that I've worn them and felt frustrated. Not only did they change the comfy upper, but the change in the stabilipods, I suppose, has altered the foot bed of the shoe. Before, the Paradigms were my answer to foot issues and now those foot issues are creeping back. I will continue to run in them because I've already put enough miles on them that they are not returnable, and I don't have the time to do the extensive research it takes to find the right running shoe. But I am definitely frustrated. Why did Altra feel the need to alter an already extremely popular shoe?

A winner! I purchased three pairs!I bought these for work, where I am on my feet standing or walking most of the time. I have some foot problems and a bad knee, and finding appropriate footwear is challenging in my size. This shoe has the shape and structure I need to be able to work. There is still room for my inserts, too (not true for all shoes). Once I knew they were the ones, I purchased two more pairs before my size was sold out. I receive compliments on my shoes' appearance almost everyday, in case that is important to people. I wore the WOMEN'S TORIN 4.5 PLUSH last year; however, they were too roomy for me, and over time my feet rolled outward, causing an abnormal gait and pain.

Will buy another to switch out -wear them every dayI am an "old Borad" - 84 come this May. I have plantar fasciitis (right foot) and a hammer toe (left foot) and a tendency to pronate since childhood - but in these shoes I can walk as a fairly brisk pace on pavement, on dirt, in my garden and on the sand and rocks of the beaches on my state. With the first week of wear, the callouses on my big toe and joint began to disappear! The only thing I notice is that the smallest toe on my left foot is a bit restricted. I prefer the toe box on my old Torin 3 shoes I had - they had wonderful "Splay" room, which I need. I am aware that Altra is not in the business of making orthopaedic shoes - but, yowsa! - these sure are keeping me in the game!!

I hate the new Paradigm "stability" thingI used to LOVE the Paradigm...until they put the GuideRail thing in. They already had a stability shoe (the Provision) so why tinker with what worked? They took a perfectly good high-cushion shoe and made it completely unworkable for most people with a neutral foot. The Torin Plush is OK, but not truly a replacement for the old Paradigm, and the Duo is worse as an attempt at a replacement, esp. the weird sole pattern. I tried these on at a store, just to ensure I could not use them--and there was NO way. It feels so much stiffer than before, and my body wanted to fight the Guide Rail, even on the running pad inside the store. Very disappointed in the tinkering Altra did with the original design.

Shoe is sloped!I've been in the Paradigm for years and just love running in them. I was excited to get a new pair in Raspberry (I like bright colored shoes). They were delivered super fast. But's that's were the love ended. I put the shoes on and immediately my foot rolled so much to the outside that my arch came off the floor. I thought maybe I got a bad pair until I read another review that said the same thing. Just standing still was uncomfortable. These are definitely, disappointingly, going back. Not ready to bail on Altra but just heartbroken to have to find another shoe.
