Bring my my Torin 4... please?I loved Torin 4. I was a new runner and they were my first running shoe and I was able to wear them right out of the store. I love the roomy toebox, I love the zero drop heel, I love everything about them. When the 4.5 came out, I tried, but they were too cushy. Then, the 5 came out and my beloved 4's went away forever. I tried the 5, but it fit too big and too wide, the tongue is awful, it's too cushy. I tried them and really REALLY wanted to like them. But I had to return them. I tried to replace the 4s- I tried the escalante, the provision 5, and even another brand of zero drop shoe. Nothing has been "right". Please consider bringing back the 4.

Don't buy these shoesI did a lot of research on shoes for running and walking with predislocation syndrome. I read great reviews on the Torin 4.5s. I searched high and low and found a brand new pair about a month ago. I LOVE THEM!!!! I bought the 5.0 2 weeks ago and they don't measure up. At all. I don't like them. At all. They have very little cushion, the fabric used for the upper part of the she is less forgiving and creases on the sides, and the tongue eats into my ankle so I have to wear ankle socks to keep from getting blisters from the tongue. Why do shoe companies change what works?! I will never understand. PLEASE BRING BACK THE 4.5S!!!!!

Downgrade From Torin 4.5This is my fourth pair of Torins. Like many other reviewers, I found that the latest changes to the Torin are largely negative. With prior Torins, I was able to size up and comfortably fit my orthotics into the shoe. With this version, however, the top of the shoe feels a lot tighter, and the compression makes my foot problems (I'm a former dancer so Morton's neuroma plus some other issues) really flare. To be clear, it's not that the toe box is too narrow, or that I've got the wrong size. Rather the uppers seem much more snug. Like others, I wish Torin 4.5 plush were still available. Looking forward to seeing these issues remedied in the next version.

Love everything but the hard tongueI just switched to Altra shoes for marathon training and love the feel of the entire shoe EXCEPT the aggressive, hard tongue. Everything about the shoe is great aside from this one, very important aspect. I've ran in the shoes for a week and after running 10 miles two days ago I noticed my ankles bruised and hurt. I went to run 4 miles today and ultimately had to cut off the tip of the tongue for better comfort-that really helped. Please think about redesigning only the tongue of the shoe because it's too hard and there's no give which leaves your ankles bruised and cut. I don't want to keep cutting off the tongue when paying good money for the shoe. Thanks!!

I would not buy again due to tongue of the shoe being hard.My previous Altra were the Torin 4.5 Plush. I absolutely loved them! I still wear them, but needed a new pair. I purchased the Torin 5. I really like the fit and the roomy toe bed. The back of the shoe is nicely made and fits good with no rubbing of the heel. My issue is the tongue of the shoe. It has rubbed my skin due to the material it's made out of (not soft at all). I actually have red marks and broken skin from where it's rubbing skin raw when walking/running. If the tongue of the shoe was softer I would have no complaints on this shoe. Hoping I can find a way to make these work, maybe socks that come up higher in the front?

Why do they keep changing them??Altra keeps changing their shoes farther & farther from their original design. It's so sad. The whole point was they did something different from the other shoe companies, but now they're the same as all the rest. The "wide" toe box so that you spread your toes as you run- only slightly wider than a regular shoe. Everyone makes a zero drop now. There's nothing special about these anymore so you just wind up wearing a funny looking shoe for no reason. Oh well Altra, you haven't been listening to your customers, we've been complaining for years for you guys to go back to your O.G. designs...

I'm sad to say, believe the reviews about the tongue designI decided to order a pair to replace my 2nd pair of Altras, which had worn out after many months of great service. (My first pair were Torins and served me equally well.) I considered the (many) other reviews that reported how the stiff tongues made this shoe unwearable but wanted to give them a chance on my feet. My experience confirmed those reviews, and I had to return the shoes after wearing them only indoors for less than two hours, total. I loved most everything else about them, so it was hard to send them back - and decide how many stars to deduct. I have ordered Escalantes and look forward to an easier fit.

Daily Runner from
My ankle is BLEEDING from the tongue on this shoeI agree with all the other reviews that complained about the tongue. I wish I'd seen the reviews first before I got these latest Torins. The older Torins have normal padded tongues. This one, for some WHO KNOWS WHY REASON, has a stiff, flat, unpadded, and knife-sharp edge on the tongue that left my right ankle bleeding after this morning's run. I thought I could live with this (stupid) redesign but I draw the line at drawing blood!!! I will be trying to return these to our forgiving running shoe store. DO NOT BUY and Altra please bring back a NORMAL PADDED TONGUE!! (And do a better job of testing out changes, please!!!)
