DWR tech

Durable Water Repellent
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stop reading this and buy the jacket already I picked this up two years ago for the move out to Chicago. It still looks and feels as good as new despite me wearing it at least four times a week half the year. Comfortable for temps between the 30s and 60s, light enough, very breathable. Will fend off the rain in a pinch, though I don't know how effective if would be if you wore it for an extended period of time in a downpour. Hood is fixed and unadjustable, but unlike other hoods this one actually fits my head. 5'2", 125 - got mine in S and I can still fit a fleece underneath. 9 times out of 10 when I need a jacket I'll grab this one. I'd take this over a down jacket any day. Seriously, just go buy it already!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite athletic jacket I finally bought my own Arcteryx jacket after sharing my husband's for about 6 months. The cost is well worth the quality of the product. The make and material of the jacket has kept me warm in 40 degree weather with just a t-shirt on underneath. However, I have worn it in the rain, and it is not waterproof. It works well when walking through light rain, but it does not repel water if you have to stand outside in the rain. Overall, I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a great jacket to wear outdoors that is flattering on most figures. I love mine and hope to buy another Arcteryx product soon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Get it NOW, You won't regret it! I bought the Atom to wear underneath my Arcteryx Theta AR jacket - and that's a perfect combination for cold, wet, and windy environments. So far, I've used the Atom for hiking, biking, and sailing. It's incredibly lightweight, very breathable, and keeps you warm. I am cycling about 5000 miles per year and tried out lots of brands. In most gear, you start to sweat a lot after a while, but Arcteryx is ahead of the crowd in regards to breathability. The Atom is my single shell in dry snow as well, it's perfect, you don't need more. Light rain and snow are fine, but I wouldn't recommend heavy rain. Regular washing machine use was fine, the jacket kept the functionality. As it turns out, I ordered a second Atom jacket in black which I use for office and city stuff now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My 3rd one for a reason I was the happy owner of the hoodless version of this for 8 years. I lost a good bit of weight and my beloved jacket was a bit baggy, so I decided to get a new one (but the hooded version since the hood is also insulated), and I went with the small... it fits me exactly the way it should. Perfectly balanced between snug but movable, keeping me super toasty and happy during temps of 0 degrees or 50 degrees... and anywhere in between. With the added bonus of a high-quality DWR coating, this jacket sheds water and keeps me dry on a rainy or snowy day. Bottom line: happy with it for the last 8 years, and still happy now. Rated 5 out of 5 by from I really like this fleece! It is lightweight and t I really like this fleece! It is lightweight and thin but warm. I think it is great for spring/fall. It is easy to take along and have when the temps fall or a cool breeze kicks up. Whether out and about or out on the trail. It's also great as a piece for when it is cool/colder and your active. I like that it is warm enough and it breathes well. I don't like getting too warm and this allows me versatility when wearing it. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very versatile jacket I often find myself between a small and medium with most brands. I ordered a medium and found it to be just about perfect; so I would say it's about half a size smaller than typical. I can fit a fleece under it, but that's a bit tight. Down to 45 degrees F, it's pretty comfortable after a few minutes of activity. As the temps drop into the upper 30s, I needed a vest or fleece under it to be comfortable. I was surprised at how well it blocked the wind in these conditions. I expect as the winter progresses, I will use it as a mid-layer under a shell. It is surprisingly light and definitely packable for a trip or hike. My wife bought an Atom hoodie in medium (her normal size) and it fit very well alone but did not allow for a fleece or vest underneath, so she returned it for a large and is very happy with it, too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don’t be jealous. Get one yourself. I purchased the Atom LT to replace an older and heaver fleece jacket I used in my backpacking trips. I was just looking to lighten my backpack and was amazed on the weight, warmth and fit of the jacket. The first day I wore the Atom LT I was getting ready for a three day backpacking trip down into the Grand Canyon and the temperature on the South Rim was 27 degrees Fahrenheit with a few inches of snow. I was not expending snow nor the cold temperature. The jacket is a must buy for everyone. It will also make you rethink your clothing when it comes to backpacking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ridiculously warm - and extremely lightweight. This is a great jacket - very well-constructed. My only beef is that I wish it were a tad longer, but otherwise with the hood up, it keeps you pretty warm in cold temperatures. I'm 5'7 and about 135 lbs, and a small worked for me. It's snug, but I wanted it to be snug.

Warranty Info

Arc'teryx Warranty and Repair

Arc'teryx guarantees the quality and performance of all of their products. Items with defects in materials or workmanship will be replaced or repaired at the discretion of Arc'teryx for the practical lifetime of the product. Items that are damaged through wear and tear, misuse, or neglect may be repaired at a small charge.

How do I send back an item for Warranty, or get an item repaired by Arc'teryx?
For Customers in North America and Europe, Arc'teryx recommends that the product be returned to the store or site where it was originally purchased.

If this is not possible, fill out their online warranty form which can be found HERE. They will email you with full instructions on how to send your product to their Warranty and Repair Center. Do not send your item to them without first obtaining an RA number from Arc'teryx.

Arc'teryx is not responsible for items that are lost or damaged during shipping and cannot replace parcels that are lost during return shipment if proof of tracking is not available. Please use a guaranteed delivery service that provides tracking information, insurance, and proof of delivery when sending an item back to Arc'teryx.

For customs purposes, Arc'teryx requires you to provide them with a PHYSICAL address, however, your warranty/repair item can still be shipped to a PO Box.

How do I contact them with questions?
Complete their Warranty or Repair Request Form. If you have any questions or concerns, you can reach their Customer Service department at 1-866-458-2473.

What is and isn't covered under the Warranty Policy?
Defects in materials or workmanship are covered for the practical lifetime of the product. Material refers to zippers, buckles and fabrics. Workmanship refers to seams, seam tape and construction. Damage due to wear and tears such as rips, tears, abrasion or UV degradation, misuse or neglect is not covered under Arc'teryx's warranty policy but may be repairable for a fee.

What is covered under the Warranty Policy on Arc'teryx footwear?
Defects in material and workmanship will be covered by Arc'teryx for the practical lifetime of the product. The practical lifetime for footwear can vary drastically depending on the frequency and type of usage. Things such as the wearing of the outsole, frayed laces, nicks and tears can indicate that a shoe has surpassed its practical lifetime. These are examples of wear and tear or damage which are not covered by Arc'teryx. If you believe there is a defect in material or workmanship present on your product, please see follow the instructions on how to send it to Arc'teryx for assessment.

What does 'practical Lifetime of the product' mean?
Although Arc'teryx builds their products to last over extended periods of time, nothing lasts indefinitely. Materials will deteriorate and fade over time and moving parts will wear out. Arc'teryx will cover your product under their warranty policy until such a time that they have deemed the product to be worn out beyond reasonable repair. If the product is showing the signs of its age-for instance, the material has become thin or faded, there are rips and tears, the zippers no longer catch, the cuffs are fraying, or the soles are worn-they will take this into consideration when assessing your product for a warranty request. All gear will suffer from differing degrees of wear-and-tear, depending upon the user. Equipment used by an outdoor guide for 150 days a year will by comparison, degrade faster than gear used by a weekend skier. By taking care of your equipment you will ensure a longer lifetime for your gear. Arc'teryx recommends that you visit their Product Care page for more information on how to wash and care for your equipment.

Will Arc'teryx repair or replace my product?
If your Arc'teryx product fails due to a manufacturing defect, where possible, Arc'teryx will repair the item at no charge to you. They have repair centers in both Europe and North America that employ the same custom machinery and techniques that they use to create the original products. If the product is not repairable, or the cost of the repairs exceeds the value of the product, Arc'teryx may, at their discretion, choose to replace the product instead.

What happens if I rip or tear my jacket or pants?
Skis, snowboards, crampons, axes and other sharp equipment will damage clothing and gloves if they come into direct contact with them. Rips, tears, burns and punctures can occur during normal use and while carrying your equipment, and are not covered under the terms of the warranty. To assist you in keeping your product in optimal working condition, Arc'teryx offers a variety of repairs for a reasonable charge. Contact them and they will be happy to discuss your options.

What if I want to have my garment altered or tailored?
Arc'teryx does not offer custom alterations or modifications to their packs or garments at this time. For products made from GORE-TEX® fabrics they suggest using a GORE-TEX® authorized repair facility for alterations. There is a list of GORE-TEX® authorized repair shops in your area on the GORE-TEX® website.

Do alterations void my warranty?
Arc'teryx understands that individuals may, on occasion, wish to tailor their Arc'teryx products to suit their needs. If something should fail which is unrelated to any alterations, Arc'teryx will stand behind their products, provided that the Arc'teryx product is being used as intended. For a list of alteration facilities in your area, please visit the GORE-TEX® website.

How long will it take if I send my product in for warranty assessment and/or repair?
The typical turn-around time is 15 to 20 business days from the time they receive your product to the time they ship it back to you. Keep in mind that winter is the busiest season for warranty and repair service. Arc'teryx will provide you with updates and more accurate estimates throughout the process.

How do I prepare my item for return to Arc'teryx?
In order to comply with health and safety regulations, as well as for the protection of their staff, Arc'teryx kindly asks that all products be cleaned before being sent to them. Products that arrive unwashed may be subject to a cleaning fee before assessments can be made. To find out how to properly clean your garment, please visit the Arc'teryx Product Care page.

How are shipping costs handled?
Customers are responsible for shipping items to Arc'teryx, and Arc'teryx will cover the return shipping costs. Please ensure that you ship the product using a carrier that can provide you with tracking information and proof of delivery. Customers are responsible for their product until Arc'teryx has signed for its delivery.

What do repairs cost?
Repairs covered under the terms and conditions of the Arc'teryx warranty policy are performed at their expense. Costs for non-warranty repairs will vary depending upon the situation. Arc'teryx will provide you with as many repair options as possible based upon the amount of work and materials required and the expected end result. After your product has been received and assessed, Arc'teryx will be able to contact you with repair options and costs. Repairs requiring payment will never be performed without your authorization.

What is the Voltair Avalanche Airbag Limited Warranty?
