Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome fit - no bounce! Bought for Leadville training when I need to carry a bit more. No bounce carrying front water bottles - there isn't any stretch in the fabric which I find most problematic in a lot of trail running packs. Lots of room, but adjustable if not carrying much. The trekking pole slots are great. I like the flexibility of being able to carry bottles and bladder. One concern I have is the durability of the cinch cord and mechanism of the front pockets - time will tell! Best riding trail running pack I have tried in years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A pack to do the thing This pack was a test venture into seeing if one pack worked to combine many of the mountain pursuits I've dovetailed for awhile. Ski mountaineering (Skimo), climbing, and now ultra distance running. After trying to run with skimo packs I thought there was a better way. And here we have it! In 6 months it has crushed at carrying light alpine climbing gear, worked extremely well for a 60k mountain run with zero chafing or rub zones, and has become my go to for all day climbing/running objectives. Now onto longer missions. Well done BD. (Now it just needs a quick access ski carry loop and hook...hint hint)

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hydration Pockets Useless This is the best pack on the market for mountain running. My partner bought one a couple of years ago and loves it, so I was stoked to utilize the extra storage and take it on a big mountain traverse. However, the BD bottles do not fit in their designated pockets, which is a change in design from when my partner bought the pack with synch pockets. The BD bottles do fit in the lower pockets, but then the upper pockets are unusable. I even tried my Salomon bottles, but still it requires a lot of maneuvering and cramming to get them in. Unfortunately, the other great aspects of this pack do not outweigh the inability to carry and access water.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost perfect After a full month of consistent use, I feel this pack's one area of needed improvement is placing the bottle holsters higher up the shoulder straps! When running at a fast speed, the bottles are not in close enough reach to drink while in motion. Overall, the pack fits very well and when in motion with my Z poles, feels next to skin. I'm very excited about the Distance 4L because the Distance 8L is sometimes overkill on shorter runs. I hope BD surprises me with releasing it before 2020.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Design After running with hydration vests for years, I was looking for a pack that was more versatile, yet remained fast and comfortable. BD has designed a beauty. I use a bladder for hydration and found the fit and performance to be superior to my vests. I also appreciate the extra stash pockets on front and found them to be easily accessed and secure. The water resistant main compartment saved my electronics as I got caught in a late summer downpour which soaked my outside gear, but the inside remained completely dry. Finally, my favorite feature is the z pole quivers, easy access and secure carry. Would give it 6 stars if that was an option.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but suffers from lack of breathability I really want to love this pack, it fits well, comfortable, the pole holders work well, everything seems sturdy, however the back panel simply doesn't breath. The problem is that, although there is a mesh panel on your back, that panel is backed by the waterproof outer of the pack's main compartment. When you sweat in the vest although the heat / moisture can get away from your skin it can't escape the pockets between the ribs of supporting material and the outer cover of the back behind them. This leads to the lack of breathability!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for trail running I've run about 100 miles with this pack so far and it's become my favorite by a long shot. I'm 5'11", 160 lbs, 38" chest, male— the medium fits perfectly. Plenty of room to carry everything I need for a run. Mostly using for trail running, but great on the road as well. No bounce at all (when the pack is empty I can HEAR it shuffle a bit, but I can't FEEL it bounce at all). Lightweight, durable, lot's of nice little touches (phone pocket, space for poles/ice axe etc.). CONS: The black/gray looks awesome but it might be nice to have additional color options. I also wish it had come with a water bottle or two. Overall, I love this bag and highly recommend it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All-rounder, not just running To be honest I got this pack for efficient multi-pitch climbing. As a trail runner, it shifts around a little more than my salomon vest, but it also protects the contents from my sweat (which is huge!). As a climber it’s what I’ve always wanted. Light, low profile, and balances my load so it isn’t all on my harness. Pockets on the chest straps are perfect to carry the phone or a topo (and water). It doesn’t interfere at all with my gear. I hardly notice it’s there. It also seems to have a beefy loop if I ever need to tag it behind for chimneys. I’ll also be using it for mountain biking and spring snow outings. It’s just about perfect for my needs. Thanks BD!
