Rated 2 out of 5 by from New material sucks For 12 years, many expeditions and first ascents I was very happy with the old Firstlight made from 'Epic Fabric'. We did cook inside with a hanging stove. 2018 i got the new version. The new fabric is not breathable and the condensation is a real problem (even without cooking inside - just from breathing). Light rain was never an issue with the old tent and on over 5000m i never had much rain at all. Even the design for 2019 will not solve the problem as the condensation happens before the air can leave through the vents. Additionally it would be a real improvement do have tie-down-lines on the side walls. I'm only 170cm but it should be longer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Big disappointment This tent might be a good winter tent but I would not recommend it for any place were there is rain. We found the walls to leak water in a heavy rain since it was only a single wall tent. However for some reason the floor is completely water proof so one night in Nepal we woke to find ourselves and all our gear floating in inches of water. The tent is small so we often were elbowing each other as we moved around or were hitting the sides of the tent causing the frost condensation in the mornings to come raining down on us. It was lightweight for sure but we lived a very wet existence for the 3 months of our trek. We would not use this tent again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 5th or 6th FirstLight I use the FirstLight for work, spending about 75-100 nights per year in it. I am now ordering my 5th or 6th since they came out many years ago. If you want a tent that last 15-20 year of heavy use, this is not it, get the Bibler of the same design. But if you want the lightest tent out there this is it. Yes as they age they definitely become less water tight. But I will take super light. Being 6' I would like them to make a long version and I sew tie downs on all 4 sides (the 4 corners already have them) for nasty winds Here is my 'retired' Firstlight I keep in India for annual Himalaya trips

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lighter, Faster I bought one of the original Gore-tex I-Tent during the mid-80's which I still have and it is a bomb proof tent. When the Firstlight came out I worried it was to fragile, but it is not. When you get in a situation with bad weather on snow above treeline, this tent is great. The Firstlight is lighter, more compact, and super easy to setup. Most tents are easy to setup when the weather is nice, but how easy and fast are they when the weather condition go bad and/or you are exhausted? As I have aged, I'm looking for equipment that is lighter, simple to use, less bulk, and that works!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite tent This is indeed my favorite tent. I have slept many nights in it on Mt Rainier and several other peaks in the cascades. Last July we were in heavy winds on rainier. Another tent in our party collapsed when a pole snapped but the first light stood strong. On an earlier trip a couple of years ago while attempting the Kautz, the first light kept us dry and snug in heavy rain and wind. The tent is light and affords plenty of room, although cozy, for two big climbers. I love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Execllent i bought this for winter camping, it super simple to set up taking only minutes. i stayed in this down to around zero degrees with snow and was well protected. i did experience some moister on the inside, but all i had to do was exit the tent and thump the sides and the frozen moisture fell to the floor. i then simply picked up the tent and shook it out. i know this couldn't be done in a high wind but overall and excellent tent. the fact the night was very still with no wind i think contributed to the buildup.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Alpine Tent I purchased this tent for alpine climbing. I set it up at our base camp at 10,500 feet in snow. It is very roomy for one person and gear. The guys next door were sharing a Firstlight, and admitted that it was cozy for 2 people. The floor kept me dry during my 2 days in base camo, and the tent was rock solid In windy conditions. Some people have complained about condensation issues with this tent (expected with a single wall tent) but I experienced zero condensation problems. I am very pleased with this tent!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love a Single Wall! I am 6'3" 195 lbs this tent barely works for my height, but it works. Set up including footprint is rapid. Setup in wind is somewhat difficult because you must engage the inside Velcro tabs around the flex poles or the tent will colaps in wind. I view this as a small problem totally overcome by the tents light weight and ease of set up. Bottom line is this tent would be a stretch as a two person with a person of height. That said, the extra room is great for gear with one person without having to use the vestibule. I also am a fan of quick set up without staking; which this tent accomplishes with ease.
