Rated 5 out of 5 by from Turny and Fun I now have five days on these skis, in conditions varying from perfect pre-lift-opening corduroy to skied-out semi-refrozen dust on crust. They're exactly what I hoped for—maneuverable, turny, fun. They get across the fall line quickly, are light enough I don't notice them much going up, and there have been no unpleasant surprises. Now I just need some powder to see how they do in that!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hands down the funnest ski I've skied I've been skiing the Helio 105 for a couple seasons. I've loved it performance and durability wise; the new BD made in Austria construction is HIGH quality and solid. I got the 88 this season, and have had a few big-steep-technical days on it at Hatcher Pass, AK thanks to an anomalous early season snowpack (deep and stable). The ski wants to rip (maybe even more than the 105?!) but is light and small, making for a technical ski alpinism tool. It's just such a joy to ride, and is an exemplary ski of it's class.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ski mountaineering tool! I got these skis for long days in the mountains, with weight savings in mind. I have now clocked almost 40,000ft of ascent and almost as much descent on them, mainly in spring conditions. They did not disappoint! Their low weight enables you to go faster, further, and with less effort. Throw them on your pack and they feel totally reasonable. Except for hitting the odd tree above your head, you almost forget they are there. Get skinning, and you'll be flying up. Some have complained that the 1.78m length is too short, but I never felt that way (I am 6ft, 182lb). I have skied them mostly on spring corn, but also on ice and on 6in of powder. They always held their own. Turny when you want them to but not jittery, easy to lay on edge, no chatter, right degree of stiffness. I am not a fan of wide skis, especially when spring conditions and long days are on the menu. The early rise on the tips has coped perfectly with deeper stashes and uneven conditions (suncups etc). Not sure how they would cope in deep powder, but that's not the reason to get these skis - I suspect they would do pretty well anyway. If you are looking for a light and fast tool that still performs, then look no further! Pair these up with a lightweight binding and skins, and watch the envy on your partners' faces when they pick them up or as you fly up the mountain ahead of them...

Rated 3 out of 5 by from too short The BD Helio 88 and 95 look fantastic, but I am disappointed to see that the longest lengths, like with the Convert and Aspect, are too short for me for regular backcountry skiing. I am a fairly average 6 feet tall, and don't like skis under 188cm, unless I'm skiing steep/narrow couloirs. Short skis are too sensitive to changes in snow and my fore/aft positioning. If there was a 190 in the Helio 88 or Carbon Aspect, I would have ordered them right away.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quick light snappy Fun light ski. Great for skinning and being able to make nice turns on the way down.
