Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect small light I got mine a few months and have been using it daily ever since. I live up off the grid at 8k feet and use it for everything around the cabin from late nite wood splitting, making daytime repair in the cabin to stoking up the hot tub fire at 3am, and as a back up skiing. I have easily put what would normally be 5 years worth of wear on it with no problems. I have primarily used BD gear for years and trust it but had a bad experience with a different head lamp years ago. They seem to have worked all the bugs out now. I was bummed at the time but given their quality figured they would fix things and got this one. It is small, light, simple to operate, good brightness and battery life. In really cold -10 or below on full bright the low batt warning lite comes on after about 3 hours. Now that its in the 20-40s I rarely have to change them. Spring is trying to happen so hope to be taking it on noctournal bouldering adventures soon.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Broken in less than a year I bought this nice lamps less than a year. Been using for do some housework and emergency light at home. Yesterday the things that hold the direction of the lamp broke. Lamp went limping. It was a great light with adjustable white and red beam.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good price, complete feature set We have 2 of these, check the specs, they have just about everything. It ticks my wants: waterproof, red option, adjustable, lockable, low is fine as sleeping night light. The brief flash at max and min is useful. It would be helpful to have the instructions available online - there is a learning curve to access all the features and i've forgotten how to activate the strobe alarm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth its weight in gold This is a great little headlamp. The best thing about it is the size. On more than a few occasions this thing has saved me from coming down off climbs in the dark. Its size makes it easily packable even if you aren't bringing a pack, store it away in your extra layer's pocket. There is a big difference between a headlamp and no headlamp, this little thing makes it easy to spare the minimal weight. I bring the BD storm when I know I will need a headlamp or be relying on it, I bring the Ion when I might need one or I am counting grams.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love It - But.... I bought this for a handy lightweight headlamp for urban adventures - mostly scooping p**p (can't believe your site won't let me say p**p - that cost you one star). Ah well. It rocks and has become my favourite of many for all sorts of uses, and I will probably get another couple. BUT! red lamp on mine flashes all the time it seems (not just when it is being locked/unlocked). Would like to figure this out but I can't find a decent set of instructions or trouble-shooting guide anywhere.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This headlamp could not hold up to running I bought this about 8 months ago. Lasted for about 400 miles of pavement pounding. The hinge system, with ratchet style position lock, could not hold up to repeated running. The constant up & down forces during running resulted in broken hinge. I got by for the last hundred miles or so with super glue but it ultimately failed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I always have it in my backpack Small and lightweight: I always have it in my backpack as an "emergency headlamp". The strap is simple and easy to use. You can barely feel it on your head, but it's still very powerful! I use it also a lot for running.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple, small and effective I used the Ion headlamp through last winter while living on a peak in the Idaho backcountry far from the grid. I carried it 24/7 for chores or whatever I needed to do outside afterdark. I used a second headlamp with a brighter beam and seperate battery pack for skiing and packing in supplies but carried the Ion as a back up. During the months with the lowest temps ((0 to -20) and short days the batteries lasted about a week and imporoved as it warmed up. I gave my last Ion to a friend whos lamp had failed and needed to get off the mountain. Happy to have replaced mine and liked it enough to write a second review. Pretty simple, durable, good brightness, good battery life, unless you’re dumb enough to pack your supplies in at nite in a white out storm in sub zero temps too.
