The Black Diamond Men's Alpine Pant is a softshell pant for rockin' the mountain through spring and fall weather. A touch of warmth, plenty of durability and just enough to shed light wind, snow and rain. The nylon/elastane fabric features 4-way stretch so you'll be moving comfortable, whether you're climbing a tough section or just doing some lunges at the summit. They breath plenty so you won't overheat while a durable water repellent finish sheds light rain and snow, preventing a soaking-in. An integrated belt prevents them from falling off your hips and zippered pockets keep loose items from dropping out.

Product Reviews
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect pants I've had these pants for well over a year, and they have yet to disappoint me. They are super comfortable and mildly stretchy, but durability is still excellent. No rips or worn patches, and I wear them at least weekly, including on numerous hiking and camping trips, and almost continuously for a 2 week trip in New Zealand. They shed water and cut wind, and I've never had any issue staying dry and warm, even wading through dew or frost covered waist-deep brush. No weird rubbing spots around the waist band or seams. The pockets are all zippered but lay flat and don't pooch out ridiculously. Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Durable, comfortable, versatile I bought these pants a month ago and wear them very often. I am 5'9, 170lbs with a 33' waist and bought the mediums. They fit perfectly. I wear them either with layers to do light ski tours or cross country skiing or just as pants for wearing around the cabin. I am a pretty warm blooded person so I find I can wear these in temps as cold as -15 C and still be warm as long as I am active. Breathable, water resistant, flexible, and performance oriented. As for longevity, time will tell and I will update after a winter season in the mountains.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A fine piece of equipment I purchased these for a trek & climb in Nepal to the Dhaulagiri circuit and Dhampus Peak. I wore them from the Dhaulagiri base camp on to a a max elevation of 17,800' the conditions ranged from cold , wind snow fall to sunshine. They were warm enough never requiring a thermal layer, they breath well, never overheated and shed precip well. Could use a few more pockets though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best climbing/hiking pant yet! Most of the BD pants I've tried have not fit me properly. I am 6'3" 205, usually wear a 34 x 34" so it is hard to find quality outdoor pants that fit. These fit perfectly and have all the functionality and freedom of movement one should expect. They look great and I like the belt system that allows you to use the incorporated belt system without a belt or add a belt through the heavy duty belt loops. I will probably order every color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Breathable, durable, all around favourite pant! I've had these for about a month now and so far have been very happy. I've used them for hiking, climbing, traveling and use during search and rescue work. At 6'1" 175lbs the mediums for me perfectly. They have yet to shoe any signs of wear even after a few rock climbing sessions and scrambles. My only complaint is the thigh pocket sits just a little low and if I put anything of weight (phone, knife...) in that pocket it hits the top / side of my knee while hiking and moving. Overall this has become my go to pant for any and all outdoor activities.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice pants, but These pants are too lightweight to be referred to as an alpine softshell. Features are good enough. They fit folks who are notably slender for their height.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome pants Great for many reasons: fit well, nice stretchy material, seem durable and well made. Note: These are not really softshell, the material is much thinner than a typical "softshell". I was actually looking for this though and read this in other reviews, so got what I wanted there, but it's worth knowing, as I think the softshell designation is perhaps a bit misleading.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE! best climbing pants This is my second pair, I have only good things to say about these. I am an alpine climber and mountain trail runner, I have mostly used these on climbs the cut is perfect for me, the location of the pockets were obviously designed by climbers, they are in the perfect location. The way these are cut are for a base layer underneath or just skin in the summer. They fit really well over boots for mixed climbing or a pair or climbing shoes. They are so comfortable to wear I have run in them in winter conditions. I would recommend these to everyone, that likes to go after it. I had to get another pair because my wife took over my first ones, her and I still have a pair from 10/12 years, we still have them, because of so many memories in them.
