Durable Water Repellent
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Nice PantsWell thought out pants. The bottom of the pants are flared for ski boots not super useful for my application but nice to have. They have a higher D in teh wear areas where you might rub your ankles together which is super cool.
It has been 5F here lately and I wear these pants with my thin pJ pants under them and stay completely warm.
I hope the knee stays good as I am usually kneeing down a bit.
Overall very happy with this.
I am 5'9" 165-175# usually wear a size 34 x 30 jeans. Purchased the mediums and they fit great.

I have yet to get anything from black diamond that I don't love. I used these pants for back country snowboarding when the weather got around 15 degrees with wind. These kept me perfectly warm at the summit while venting well on the climb. only thing I would change is an inner thigh vent for hot hikes. I also used these as a winter camping pant, they immediately warm up when put on even when left outside in 0-10 degrees overnight. Love these.

After 20 days of use, the BD Boundary Line Insulated pant impresses me overall, but a few issues have arisen due to my specific use. The fit and finish on these pants is very good - all of the zippers are well aligned and designed without excessive tension so they're operable with one hand. There were no loose threads, etc. In that respect, they significantly outpace other insulated pants I've used from major brands (HH, TNF, etc.). I haven't had a situation that really put the waterproofing to the test yet, but compared with other pants in the same genre, they are extremely lightweight. This could be great for someone using them for backcountry touring in colder temperatures as even with the insulation, the venting is pretty good and I've found the fabric to be very breathable (more so than comparable options). I do think that breathability and weight might come with a compromise.
These don't feel as durable compared with some other pants I've used. I believe that I'm likely using them in a manner for which they were not intended, as I work on the mountain using power tools and other heavy implements, carrying around all manner of heavy objects and materials, and I'm hard on the gear in that environment. The fabric is pilling in some places of heavy wear (upper thighs near the pockets and near the cuffs). I frequently boot pack all over the place and use crampons when it's icy. For someone working on the mountain in this manner, I don't expect these to last a full season. That said, I can only thing of one other major outdoor brand whose insulated pants have survived two seasons or more, and they have since changed that model to be lighter to compete with offerings such as the Boundary Line Insulated Pant, so I doubt there are many consumer models that could survive my use at this point.
