Product Reviews
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Burly stretch I met a girl wearing one of these in the Gunks and I honestly reached over and touched it, and then I knew! It's like the old Schoeller Dawn Patrol jacket, which I loved. This has the same thick weave and turns water nicely. I already wore it in fifty mph wind and rain on Cairngorm in Scotland and it eventually soaked through but was phenomenal. I'm 5'9" and 190 around Christmas and it just fits, so judge appropriately for layers - but it's one of those pieces of gear that inspires.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The difference maker From the moment I put on the cirque shell, I knew it was a worthwhile investment. The quality is superb & it’s a quintessential piece in my gear load out for treks through Alaska.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid winter mid layer during activity A reliable go-to as a cold barrier layer under full winter shell. Use this for winter SAR missions that involve exertion and it performs well. Also use it for everyday outer layer when its not below 25 degrees or so. Small thin pit zips would be really nice. Fit seems a bit small at first but stretch makes that work well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best softshell for three season activities! BD REALLY knows how to make a GOOD softshell jacket. The quality of the products and the overall fit of the garment is just superb. I use Black diamond softshells brobably like 200 days a year commuting by bike and hiking in the winter I wear the Dawn patrol jacket and in the other three seasons I really enjoy wearing this one. I was wearing this jacket last fall hiking in Northern Norway and Finnish Lappland it really gives just enough protection from the wind and good amount of breathability. Really versatile piece you can layer with a thick wool sweater or a technical fleece so it works nicely around temperatures -5c to +20 celsius. The fit is pretty form fitting compared to the Dawn patrol jacket or the Alpine Start hoody. I would say that it fits the slimmer body type better. The sleeves are nice and long so it works perfectly for commuting by bike or climbing. The DWR works great but its not a rain shell. The pocket placement on this jacket is also PERFECT!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent midweight softshell Highly wind and weather resistant but still surprisingly breathable for it's weight. I wear it every day in the Andes at higher elevations where the Ferrossi doesn't cut it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nearly perfect [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve had this soft shell for a couple of months now. While I love the heavy weave which provides great water and wind protection. I would have liked a light fleece lining. Not only to add a subtle amount of warmth, but as a softer against the skin feel with a tshirt underneath. That being said it works amazing well in virtually all conditions. I live in Idaho and we have had some crazy winds and weather patterns this spring. I’ve paired this with a merino wool hoody and a light vest in mid thirties temps with 15-20 sustained winds with higher gust and been comfy. Also had some nice days that I was a bit too warm with this and a light base layer. (Could use underarm vents). Overall I am very pleased and will continue to put this piece to the test.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Shell One of the best shells I've ever used. It is a go to of mine with a fleece when riding my motorcycles in southern Utah this winter and for the morning hikes. I will also use it this spring for the end of the ski season.
