Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely well engineered bag - worth every penny I bought this backpack at the start of the season, and have been extremely happy with the pack. The battery powered airbag works extremely well and the multiple deployment system is very reassuring. The bag is advertised as 40 litres, the usable space (deducting space the airbag takes up) is around 30, but is still enough for a multi-day trip if you pack light. All the pockets are extremely well designed, particularly the avalanche gear front pocket and hip pocket. The only negative I have found so far is that the ski straps for when hiking do not feel secure - this led to some worrying moments when boot packing to the summit of steep mountains!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from great bag features but too heavy to use Not sure why I need a battery that has five deployments. I would rather have a lighter battery and two deployments. This bag is just too heavy; once I have loaded it with glacier travel gear and the rest of guiding gear. I know I am going to be leaving this bag at home a lot because of the weight. I am looking to replace with a canister bag that is half the weight if I put a carbon fiber canister in it. The rest of the bag is very well designed. It does carry the weight well, very good weight training.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from FIRST GLANCE REVIEW: Great pack so far! **I'm not considering the fantastic JetForce airbag in this review... it lives in its own realm of awesome within the airbag market for now** This pack fits great, and functions well. One star deducted with the following bullet points (both + and - ) - It is NOT 40L huge... It's a good long day patrol pack, that may be been 40L before adding JetForce, but as is, it feels more like 30+L of packable space. YMMV. + It is fantastically simple, no extra bells and whistles that aren't purely functional. + There are well placed handles front and rear - The tools pocket doesn't fit a BD Evac 7 shovel very well. + non-tools pockets are easy to get to and well sized (just not 40L in total space...) - There isn't a zip-up hydration sleeve on the pack strap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The right choice! I have used this on several tours and I am happy with it in every respect. As mentioned in several reviews, it is heavier than a similar pack without airbag, but that is to be expected. And you should get the 40 liter pack if you normally use a 30ish liter pack without airbag. The fan/battery/airbag combination does use a fair bit of space. For guiding and work missions, this is the pack. If you are just using the pack for day tours and are not guiding, then the Halo 28 might be just fine. I appreciate all of the features like the helmet holder and ski carrier. The pack has been very well thought out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Product Used the Saga 40 last season while ski patrolling and cat ski guiding. Having worked using a number of other airbag pack systems in the past this is by far the best of the bunch. I prefer the Jetforce system over the cartridge system for a series of reasons number one being the ability to practice deploying the airbag without having to deal with acquiring a new cartridge after every practice deployment. Also repacking the airbag after a practice deployment is super simple compared to some the other system. Plenty of room in the pack for all my patrolling/guiding equipment with room left over for explosives. The pack is very well built and carries great. Looking forward to another season of patrolling and guiding using the Saga 40!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best In Industry This is the backpack. Extremely well thought out pack features with the industry standard in airbag design. The charging of the batteries is easy and packing/repacking is quick. Really durable zippers and I also love the hidden pockets all over the pack like the hip belt pockets. Avy tools pocket holds even the biggest Black Diamond shovel (evac 9) and has extremely easy access. I have used this on hut trips, ski competitions, day to day backcountry tours etc. If you are on the fence with size, get the Saga 40. Amazing product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Plenty of room in a slim profile. I stalled on buying this bag for a long time. I was mostly concerned with the real feasibility of using it as an overnight bag, and its fully loaded weight. Every review and video I came across seemed to focus entirly on the airbag method and deployment, not on the actual functionality of the bag. I hope this helps! SIZE: I was able to fit all needed overnight gear INSIDE the bag (see photos.. sleeping Bag, repairkit, first aid kit, snowsafty, snowstudy, food, clothes, skins, water sleeping pad, cooking equipment snacks..ect ) with the exception of some awkard tentpoles. There was room for some smaller items if needed, and I still had room to pack skins in for descents. WEIGHT: Though the pack is kinda heavy to start the carry system is impressive and the weight was not felt on a 10 mile Montana style tour with a lot of ups and down, crawling over logs, bridges ect. FUNCTIONALITY: The pack has everything that most good bags come with these days, back acess(huge bonus) hip pocket for quick acess to inclinometer, sugary treats, ect., swing arms for balance, large goggle/snowstudy top pocket, ice axe compatibility, helmet mount that connects to bottem to allowing for snow safty access quickly. The list goes on. Overall I am pleased with this bag. It IS large enough to be used on multiday trips and small enough to be used on day tours.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great guide pack A solid 5 weeks in Gulmarg, guiding for 4 of them and the pack performed well. Rode comfortably with a full compliment of kit on board each day (skins, lunch, water, 1st aid, repair kit, puffer jacket, emergency sled, tools, extra gloves...), took the abuse of the trees, ratty gondola, army trucks, third world taxis (stowed inside and out), deep snow, mud, carrying skis daily... I like all the features and minimalist design. Cool little belt pocket, handy carabiner loops, top pocket is good, back panel access superb, gear pocket is a little tight and my shovel handle sticks out but no biggy - after using it a few times each day I got it sorted, buckles are solid and the crotch strap efficient. The waist belt flicks open quickly and easily with my thumb and the strap seems to just fall off the belt as I drop the bag - most of the time. Airbag deployment/engineering/design is excellent and terrorist wary airport was easy passage (Srinagar). Comfortable!!! Fast when mounting skis or stashing a jacket on the back when skinning, and can carry 2 pairs of skis when necessary (typical guiding thing). Snowboard carry is simple as well. I rate it. It's the right size, rides well, is easy to use with no fiddly bits and yeah, it's a bit heavy but we're all big and strong anyway, aren't we? So many people get their cannisters taken off them when traveling third world, it's great to finally have a system that breezes past all the AK 47s at the airport, can be deployed a few times each day and just plugs in at night. Never noticed the helmet carry thing until I got home - well hidden.
