Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is my 3rd set These poles suck because every time I get a pair, I end up having to replace them with another. Gee, man, are they that bad? Yes, every time you leave these poles unattended some schmuck will go by and say: "Gee, are those BD traverse ski poles? The ones that give you the most bang for your buck?" Well yes indeed they are—and just like that, BOOM, gone. Everyone has a pair of these or wants a pair. Sharpie yours with your name and address and maybe some obscenities so they don't get swiped. Seriously, its happened twice now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Jack of all poles Though I primarily use this as my XC and BC ski pole, I also use the Traverse for snowshoeing and on-piste skiing. I love the cam locks on these things. I'm 6'3" and 220 lbs, and I've used this pole to get me off my back in the crud, ice, and pow many times. This thing is tough, and it's never once bobbled or gone out of adjustment. I ski it with confidence in the resort, too. I was a little suspicious of the cam lock after using other twist-and-lock BC poles over the years (which work until they don't), and I'm absolutely a convert to BD's cam lock system. I've recommended this pole to several friends--and they rave about them, too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Performance and Ruggedness in well-priced poles Have used them once, in spring conditions (heavy wet snow). Construction : well made components Performance : met expectations; easy to modify pole length. Used them to help myself up after a wipe out on a hill; each clamp held firm, no sliding of lower section into upper. Assembly : attachment of basket to lower section in each pole did not go as described in the assembly instructions. Difficult to explain but one is supposed to screw each basket on a threaded portion of the lower pole and continue turning the basket until it gets through to a thread-bare region, which then allows the basket to spin. This did not happen; basket remained firm on the pole, but did not spin freely

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very durable, fantastic ski touring poles! I bought these poles 3 seasons ago and they have held up to a lot of abuse (they look different, but have the exact same functions as described on this page). The rubber grip is my favourite feature and has come into use time and time again, from sidehilling to bootpacking steep terrain. The flick lock has never failed me and the powder baskets are fantastic. One issue (which may have been solved by now) is they don't shorten very much for packing away.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Everything Pole I used an older version of these poles for 10 years and they just broke. Countless tours and in bounds skiing. These poles are awesome. I even used them trekking all through the French Alps for a year. I took the baskets off and put on the protective tips to be used for hiking. Such a versatile pole and easy to collapse and pack away. I recently purchased the updated version and they are just as good. I think the new locking system is better than the old one. I look forward to 10 more years. Lightweight, versatile, reliable on and off piste, excellent price point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The backcountry standard for poles From resort laps to bc laps this is the ski pole. I've been using BD ski poles for years and they only get better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best poles I've ever used I picked up these poles for touring and in-bounds skiing and they've really proven to be great poles. I'm particularly impressed with their resistance to kinking. I've had to use these in a pinch to create a "platform" for me to stand in deep powder and thought for sure that they'd be bent when I was done... they weren't. Really great poles, I'm very impressed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Second pair I've purchased, highly recommend! I've owned a pair of these bad boys for a few years now, and have been very happy with their performance both in the summer hiking, and for a backcountry ski pole. Lightweight and easy to adjust (even wearing bulky gloves). Definitely make sure you have your powder baskets screwed on TIGHT though. After recently sacrificing my boyfriend's ski poles to a snowy parking lot (whoops), I bought these for him as well, and he is also happy with their performance in snow.
