The Black Diamond Vista Tent is a 3-person tent for backpacking to base camp and even a little campground action. When hitting the trail or campground with a group of 3, this double-wall tent packs nicely and pitches quickly. The two doors and two vestibules leave plenty of space for entering and gear storage, minimizing the in-tent squabbles. When the fly is left off you can all enjoy the breathability provided by the mesh portions of the main tent and when it's on you're protected from any rain the weather brings. Pick up the ground cloth (sold separately) and you can ditch the main tent body for a lightweight pitching option with just the fly, poles and ground cloth. Always good to have options.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product, but EXCELLENT service We originally purchased this tent in 2009 but went overseas for a number of years, and had to leave the tent stored. We returned to the States, and upon bringing the tent out of storage, found that the coating on the underside of the rain fly had deteriorated into a sticky mess. This was a known defect that Black Diamond had since remedied, and their service team let me know that I should file a claim for a new fly instead of looking to purchase one. I took their advice, and yesterday received a box with a BRAND NEW TENT inside. So this is my most sincere gratitude for Black Diamond as a company who stands by their products & rectifies any defects without any hassle whatsoever. Thank you Black Diamond!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well designed, easy to set up, roomy for its size. My wife and I love this tent. It is well designed: it's easy to set up; it has large doors on each side; good pouches for your pocket contents; and best of all the trapezoidal footprint, wider at the head end, makes it seem roomier than other tents this size. This is a real review.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, Functional, Decent Sized BUT! the mismatched doors on the rainfly and main tent can be annoying. It really is a great oversized two person tent (or three people further from the car). I spent 5 nights in it on a river trip. It rained every night so the fly was used a lot, and the two doors open opposite each other so you have to snake through them. Also, the rainfly zippers get stuck on their flaps REAL easily...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good tent and excellent customer service I own two Mesa tents since 2009. They are the 2-person version of the Vista. After some years the orange fabric of the upper fly became very sticky - a defect in the resin used to make it waterproof reported also by other people. I would like to acknowledge BD for replacing the fly of both tents after 10 years, well after the end of the 7-years warranty. This is the kind of behaviour that makes you say: "these guys really have a serious and correct attitude towards their customers". Thanks so much! BTW: why is the Mesa no more in production? It was a great 3-season tent, lightweight and strong enough. In any case I would recommend the larger Vista.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wicked nice tent I spent the first night in my new tent on a spring evening in Colorado. It was super simple to set up and withstood 4-5 inches of wet snow. Loads of space for me and my puppy. He loved that he got his own vestibule.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good quality, easy to set up I haven't put this to any major stress test, but it's a good tent, with plenty of room for three people and a small, waggy dog. It would be tight with three large adults and their packs, but it's fine for three regular sized people, especially with packs kept outside. And for three smaller people, there's more than enough room. The only thing I'd change is to make the vestibules a bit bigger. You can't really fit three packs under these. Easy to set up and it actually fits back in the bag when you take it down.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Weak First night using the tent I woke up to the body of the tent pressed onto my sleeping bag, I figured it was just really windy outside... When I went outside the winds couldn't have been much stronger than 20mph. I realize this is not a mountaineering tent but for such a heavy tent I expected it to be much more stable, also you really need to utilize all of the webbing loops provided to get a decently taut pitch, I think the DAC poles have too much give in them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great but too heavy for one person I bought this tent with an eye towards an extended horse packing trip in BC next summer. Good amount of room, great reviews, but too heavy. It's so large and dense that I won't be able to take it on the puddle jumpers in Northern Canada. I'd have to give up essential clothing and gear for my month in the mountains. Great features, but just too heavy. I am going to try the I-Tent instead and shave both pounds and size off. But I have to have the watertight features- so I can't wait to see it when it gets back in stock.
