The Black Diamond Women's Notion SP Pant is a loose fit pant for climbing. In the gym or cool weather outdoor days, they're ready to help you move along the rocks. The organic cotton twill fabric has elastane built in for stretch and all the right movements. Reinforced at the knees with elastic at the waist and cuffs.

Love the waistband!I bought these as a follow-up to the original Notion Pants, which I love. The only complaint I had with the original ones was the drawstring; it bunches up under shirts and looks a little odd, since it's on the outside. The Notion SP pants have it on the inside, and the waistband is slightly thicker, laying a little bit more flat than the original Notions. It's infinitely more flattering, and I haven't noticed a difference in material between the two, so I'd definitely consider these an upgrade! They're so nice to climb in too, feeling super roomy while not too baggy. I'm a small in the Notion SP, but an extra small in Notions, so I would size up for these (I'm 5'3" and 125 lbs, for reference).

Great improvement in fit, but wears out quickI Love the fit of these pants compared to the regular Notion pant!
Favorite climbing pant ever!- and I have La Sportiva and E9, etc etc.
These are slick and stylish, the perfect weight and mobility. They work well for bouldering AND sport, which is awesome
Because I usually wear leggings sport climbing as these sort of pants can feel bulky- but not these. I have worn them outside a lot, as a guide and in my own leisure climbing time. I hadn’t had them very long before I did get a hole in the butt- just got thin very quickly.
I still think it’s worth it to get another pair, maybe I just wore them too much!

Roll once for petite!I am 5'3 about 125lbs and generally wear a 4 petite. I got the Notion SP in small on a gamble after trying on the regular small Notion pants on in the store and felt like the Notion's were slightly too large in the waist and baggy in the butt. The SP's are fantastic! I love them for gym and outdoor climbing. The pockets are really nice, in pretty flattering position, as well as being nice and deep so they actually hold things. My only complaint is that they don't come in a petite size so due to this inseam I have to roll them once but not a big deal. Definitely recommend.

My wife loves them so far! (now has 4 pairs)[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got these a gift for my wife and she has been extremely impressed with their performance and style. They are comfy and also have a sleek and modern look that has been getting a lot of compliments. The pockets are also great and fit her phone with its case. Everywhere we go, people ask her where she got them, and she's more than happy to recommend them!
Only thing I can say is these are more of a casual pant that is great for hiking, backpacking, working out or day to day stuff. Great for the climbing gym too. Think twice before taking them out to the crag or a multipitch climb since they're cotton and will tear over time.

Completely different than the pictureI own the old Notion pants in a couple different colors, and I've always loved climbing in them. They're comfortable and hold up well. So when I saw these, I was excited. However, once I ordered them I realized they look nothing like the picture.
The drawstring is on the inside of the pants rather than the outside.
There is no actual elastic in the waist, just the drawstring. Which makes it super uncomfortable for me.
The back of the pants are also different; I'm pretty sure the back shown in the pictures is from the old Notion pants. These ones have smaller pockets, and the way the lip is sewed makes the opening on them so small that I can't even fit my hand or a phone inside.
The material is extremely thin, and it doesn't stretch as all. I had the pants on for about 10 minutes, and they were already bothering my knees from how little the fabric gives. I couldn't even imagine climbing in these ones.
Finally, the sizing appears to be all wrong. They're way too tight on my butt, but yet there's an excess of material throughout my thighs. Getting a bigger size would make my legs drown completely. And unlike the regular Notions, the thinner fabric does show underwear lines on these.
Not sure what I plan on doing now. I wish I hadn't jumped and bought them, but I also don't want to pay return shipping. Didn't realize how different they'd be from the picture.
Really disappointed, as I absolutely LOVE the other Notion pants, and I've always had a good experience with my other Black Diamond products as well.

I love these pants.[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My work is active and these allow me to move around my clients. They are quality cotton with a little sheen. They stretch out a little with wear during the day which is great for me. I'm a size 4-6 in other athletic wear and I ordered an S. If I were a true 6 I would order a M. There is a drawstring that isn't necessary for me they fit so well. I love the flat front. If the shape of the model looks like your shape, these will fit you well. Hope this helps.

DisappointingTo start, I am a huge Black Diamond fan -- 80% of my climbing gear is BD brand. I love everything I have bought from them and am normally very impressed with the quality. *Unfortunately not the case for these pants.* I bought these not too long ago and have worn them a few times in the gym and they were fine. They could be slightly more flexible, but I was convinced I was sacrificing indoor comfort for a sturdier pant to wear outdoors. Apparently I was wrong. On the first day I wore these outside for climbing and a bit of scrambling the entire seat wore through/ripped. They are completely unsalvageable. I wasn't doing anything crazy or out of the ordinary, just a bit of scrambling and sitting on rock. If you are going to call something "climbing pants" it seems they should be able to survive more than a single outing. I actually own multiple pairs and was too afraid to wear the others on the second day because I didn't want to sacrifice another pair. In a gym, these pants are okay but clearly cannot survive the outdoors.

Need more sizesI can't comment on their performance because I never got a chance to wear them. I am 5'2", 105lbs and ordered a size XS. They were way too big and there was no way I could have made them work, so I returned them. It's too bad because the material felt really nice and the light blue was such a nice colour. I'm hoping someday BD will come out with petite size pants
