Product Reviews

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Passable, but disappointing I've owned every iteration of Launch going back at least 5 years. The 9 is largely disappointing. As some other reviewers have noted, the 9 feels generally cheaper and less substantial than earlier versions. The cushioning inside the shoe around the top and sides of the foot are thinner and harder, the upper has less mesh to accommodate foot movements and oddities that many of us have, the tongue has a very odd (short and thin) design, and the shoe just generally feels flimsy. I have more minor pain now after runs than with past Launch shoes. overall a letdown from Brooks. I hope it's just an anomaly and not the direction of travel for the Launch series.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall still a good (and my favorite) running shoe I've read some relatively critical reviews of the Launch 9, so I was a bit concerned about getting my first pair to replace my Launch 8s (I banked several pairs of those for that reason). Overall, I have been pleased with the shoe. It feels a bit lighter than pervious models. It has the typical comfort and quick transition of the Launch series, and I feel it remains a good training shoe as well as a good race shoe for 5ks to half marathons. While it is not a major problem, I feel the 9s do not snug up as easily or securely as previous versions. It's not a major difference but they never feel as snug as my Launch 8s did.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic lightweight daily trainer. I’m a heavier runner and thought I was buying a affordable shoe to rotate in for few junk miles. I have been completely blow away how good this shoe has been for me. It just works for everything, including long runs. I really like the simple, breathable, comfortable upper and thin flexible tongue. If your looking for an overbuilt shoe, this isn’t it. The midsole has been a revelation, just right on softness vs. responsivenesses. The 26mm of forefoot stack is welcomed in a affordable shoe. Again I’m a heavier runner, this midsole works. Well done Brooks, the shoe is great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I started running over a year ago and when I began running I didn’t have any issues. All of a sudden I got shin splints an they wouldn’t heal. I tried every kindof shoe even the ones running professionals said fit my foot and they didn’t work either. So I had a pair of brooks that had a Texas flag on them I bought for a trip and I tried them. As soon as I put them on I told my wife these don’t hurt my feet and I’m not on my second pair and they are still doing great. To this day the brooks launch brand of shoes are the only shoes I can wear that don’t hurt my feet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better forefoot cushioning, fast, comfortable, but a bit narrow I like the improved arch and the light weight of this shoe. I wasn't loving the 8's (incidentally, I LOVED the 5's to the point I wore practically through them), and so I returned the Launch 8's after a few 5-6 mile tempo runs and got these. Honestly, they're comfortable overall, but I am little nervous about the width. I always wear a D width, but after two short runs in these I am wondering if I should have gotten a 2E? They do feel fast and light....I will try a few more tempo runs in them just to be sure. I guess in summary, I think Brooks you absolutely did the right thing with the better cushioning in the midsole/forefoot area and the thinner tongue, but maybe be cautious in how narrow the toebox areas are getting?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Inferior to Launch 8 I've run in each Launch since their inception. They are magical shoes and have made me a Brooks' customer for life. However, they kind of missed with the 9 series. Others have documented well why, so I'll simply add this: going from 8's to 9's wasn't a major downgrade or disappointment, but after several hundred miles on them they had proven to be inferior to the 8's in durability, comfort, and support. So I switched back to the 8's recently and never has a new shoe felt so good. I hope the Launch 10's go back to what has made the model such a runner's dream.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feels a lot like the Launch 9 GTS. I'm keeping them. In all honesty, I intended to order the Launch 9 GTS to replace my old Launch 9 GTS but after I discarded the packaging I realized that I had ordered the non-GTS version. Oops... my bad. They sat around for quite a while and I just ran a couple miles in them yesterday and again today. They do feel a bit different than the GTS version but not different enough to really know with only about 4 miles total. I'll keep them and just alternate with the GTS's for a few weeks and then retire the GTS's when the time is right. Anyway... absolutely nothing to complain about but also nothing to rave about (other than I just expect them to hold up to Brooks normal standards and there are no indications or warnings to suggest otherwise).
