Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceeded every expectation After owning this for a month and briefly owning a Burley Bee before I am extremely satisfied. We live in the city and bike almost everywhere so since our new daughter was born I’ve been tossing ideas of how to get her out on the bike with me. I was hesitant of a trailer; to me they always seemed obnoxious, big, clunky, and a PITA to tow around. So I went through all the available options of attachable seats, carriers, cargo bikes, etc. Finally I decided I didn’t feel comfortable having her strapped to the bike and exposed. Not only for safety, but also because we live in Minnesota and it’s cold and windy most of the year. The local bike shop had Burley Bees on sale so I went and bought one. I had it for about a week and while I quickly started to love the trailer, I started to dislike many things about it. For one the roads aren’t smooth around here, and the basic Bee has no suspension, so it was very jarring on my daughter and I could tell she wasn’t comfortable. Another thing that impeded her comfort was being crammed against the side. Since it’s made for two kids and the sides aren’t bowed out like the higher end models she was right up against the side bar. Also it has the basic seat and for a 6 month old this wasn’t gonna cut it. Also I felt a lot of vibration thought my bike, even on my old (and incredibly comfortable) hand lugged steel Trek. My newer bikes it was almost unbearable, (I’m 6’6” and 200lbs so I already put a lot of stress on a bike and need to inflate the tires to a high psi). However owning that for a short time made me realize I was a big fan of the trailer and after doing some research the Solo would fix all my problems. So after selling the Bee privately for what I paid (yes they have great resale) I bought the Solo. The suspension is excellent, my daughter is very comfortable now and so am I. The seat system is a ton better, and having it adjustable is great. She is much happier sitting in the center and having room on either side for her arms, dolls, Sophie, whatever… I can also tell the difference in reduced width both in navigating through tight places and the lower wind resistance. Handling wise they were both phenomenal; I can tell they’re there going uphill, but it rolls great and tracks great. I love the storage in the back, it’s great to be able to throw gear back there, the diaper bag, food, basically all the stuff I would cram on my back. Plus with the lay flat seat it makes a fantastic package hauler, so I am now able to make UPS deliveries faster with the bike then having to try and navigate traffic and detours downtown. Would I buy this over the Bee? If you have a very young child, or only one child to transport, and you bike a lot, or have rough surfaces to navigate; yes definitely! If you love biking, do yourself a favor and just cough up the extra money, the enjoyment after just one month was worth the price and with how well this is built I expect it will last a lifetime. I already looking forward to winter and picking up the fat tire set! One last thing; The connection to the bike is awesome, it’s very easy to connect. The hitch that stays on the bike is very minimal and being able to purchase extras to put on other bikes makes swapping a ton easier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best trailer for the price Easy setup, although I did need to purchase a separate Burley thru axle ($50) for my bike to install the trailer connector. The trailer itself is light for its size and the suspension works perfectly and is a must for any bike trailer. For a single kid, the size is great and the extra pockets and storage are handy. The trailer is well made and should last for a long time. 5 stars!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Our Family Loves Burley!! With our growing daughter, now 10 months old, we would be lost without our Burley Solo! This trailer kept her cozy and warm this winter while we hiked in several feet of snow. We never leave home without it! We rung in the year hiking a loop in the woods of Doe River and Olin was perfectly toasty and having a blast in the Bunting bag in her solo.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice trailer, but not perfect. We bought this to replace an older Encore. Compared to that trailer, the Solo is improved in a few areas: much better harness and seat, the wheels don't back out of the axle tube over rough terrain, and it's easier to fold. In addition to the more secure harness, we bought this for the suspension. It's a very simple system, and while it does take some edge off, it's not all that effective. It would be nice if Burley made a more off-road focused trailer... more wheel travel, larger tires, independent suspension. But for how compact and durable it looks to be, it's not bad at all. I did notice that the wheels have fewer spokes and tires are extremely cheap when compared to my older Burley, and this one has more plastic parts (vs. aluminum) and doesn't feel quite as well made. The wheels also rock up and down a little bit once installed, but that looks to be a consequence of the simple and easy attachment method and plastic axle sleeve. They haven't almost fallen out like the old trailer though, so I guess I can't really complain! One thing to note - the (double?) roll bars work, as does the harness. I've had the misfortune of flipping the trailer on to the side, and aside from my child being startled (and then giggling) and scratching up the jogging/rollbar, no harm was done. This should be obvious, but this is not as stable as wider trailers like the Encore.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Produce This bike trailer folds up nice and is perfect for the bike path. I added some velcro to the bottom so that when it folded the trunk flap could wrap over the end and hold it closed. The seating could be improved. A small wrap around head rest of some sort and the ability to recline the seat would be nice.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent product, but installation is too much I bought this about a month ago, and overall, I am very pleased with this product. My only complaint is that it’s a pain in the butt to hook up to the bike and then swap out the parts for the jogger kit — too many pieces going on. There’s no easy way to hook it up and then just hit the road.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Limited for skiing, be sure you order all parts We live in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and are prone to large snowfalls, so we purchased the We Ski Kit. After attempting to try and break trail behind our house we found that the Solo had a tendency to want to tip over when the skis sunk into the snow. The skis that come with the unit are very narrow, and seem to be designed for groomed XC trails. We may try to modify the ski set up by adding wider skis so we can experience more backcountry styled touring. This might be a product that Burley could consider offering, as not everyone wants to ski on groomed trails. After watching several videos from Burley, I ordered the Solo and the We Ski set up for our family, unfortunately it was an anti climactic gift for Christmas as we could not use the bike setup. If you own a newer Mountain Bike, be sure to check if you have a 12mm thru axle. If so, you will have to order this part to mount the trailer. We finally received the parts we needed for the bike setup, and it performed very well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome product! I have it 4 stars because I have the jogger attachement and it's horrible. I can't even turn Without lifting the wheel up. This is an inconvenience and a waste of money. I think I would have been better of purchasing the waist attachment and running with it.

Hello AshleyJane! This model is very similar to the D'Lite model, with slightly different dimensions. We're showing that the Burley Kids' Solo Trailer model that we have was released in 2014. Hopefully this helps!
