The 100% Cordura® nylon shell is incredibly light and has a Rain Defender® durable water repellent finish to shed light moisture from a sprinkle of rain to a snow shower. Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not quite what I was aftter First let me say Carhartt makes quality products and their customer service (on-line chat specifically) is great. That being said I ordered the Gilliam Jacket in size Large Tall. I am 6'00" tall and weigh about 190. I was swimming in the jacket. I am thinking a medium would have been a better choice. Also, I was hoping for a "puffy" style Jacket. Although the lines and the picture of the model present that look and style, it was rather flat and seemed to be more of a "light" jacket with minimal insulation. I have not given up and may go after a Medium and see where that takes me. Carhartt is great and I will continue to purchase from them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Improvements Needed Very nice jacket but not truly designed for the working man. If this was a working mans light jacket the pockets for hands would be zippered and not a flapped buttoned stile. The chest pocket and if there were zippers on the hand pocket should be facing down to close. The reason for this is due to zipper lanyards getting caught while working you don't want the pocket to accidentally open and you lose anything that you may have in your pockets. In general this is a nice light jacket to go out on the town with but if Carhartt really wants this to be a working mans jacket as well as something that you would wear out they would fix the pocket and zippers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Order one size smaller [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I normally like my jackets a little baggy in the winter so I don't feel like I'm being compressed when I layer. Even with a bulky sweatshirt, this was too loose all over. I recommend ordering one size down. I'm going to, and will write another review on the next jacket. Otherwise, the jacket is nice. The outside pockets only have one snap closure, rather than a zipper, which I thought was odd and would not trust to secure a wallet or phone because of the slippery material of the coat. I like that the jacket doesn't have Velcro, which snags my sweaters, gym shirts, and ties.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Lightweight Warm Jacket I bought this for my husband who is always on the go outside. He hikes, motorbikes, camps, backpacks, works on cars, moves rocks and landscaping. This coat has proven to be warm without the bulk. The wast cinches to your comfort to prevent air from coming up around your waist. Sleeves adjust as well-perfectly. Pockets are spectacular !! (Great job Carhartt!!!) It seems more durable than LL Bean. I haven't washed it yet but I'm not anticipating any issues. I bought him the size as instructed by the sizing chart and it runs true to size. We just returned from the Smokey Mountains hiking trip and I stole it from him 3 times. I will probably purchase one for myself. He loves it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing warm jacket for the weight! This jacket is surprisingly warm for the weight of it. On a 25 degree night, I was nice and toasty with nothing more than a lightweight flannel underneath this jacket. It packs up nice and small as well. It does run a bit large. At 6'3" and 260 lbs, the Large Tall fits great but I do not have a ton of room to do a lot of layering, but being as I live in the deep South, I won't need to. But then again, I don't think I would have to in order to stay warm when visiting family in Colorado. In case anyone is wondering, the moss colored jacket has orange draw cords at the bottom.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Sizing chart is incorrect I followed the size fit guide that is included with figuring out what size to get. All the measurements said I needed a 2XL. Now that I have the jacket it is massive on me and fits over my puffiest jacket I have. I had never owned a car hartt before so just beware they run big. Also, know that the sleeves and length run short. I’d return it but my company does an annual jacket and let us pick them. I picked this one and now it’ll be one I never wear since the jacket is massive, barely goes to my belt and sleeves are two inches two short. Very disappointed with such a name brand.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light and Comfortable [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought it for my husband who hates jackets and swears we never need them cause we live in Southern California. He's from Philly and we visit often and he never has a jacket so I finally pulled the trigger for him. I wanted this to be versatile for east and west, mountain trips, etc. He loves it. Foldable for travel, light, comfortable, and loves the pockets. Also water resistant which makes it a great option for the rain without being too warm. He wore it all week in NY and PA - so far it's a winner, especially for the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Jacket runs large I really loved this jacket and it looked great online. I am 6'-5" 230lbs and ordered an XL Tall. Unfortunately, the coat fit me like an XXL and was way too baggy. The length was fine but it fit me like a trench coat and I ended up returning it and getting a different style coat that fit me perfectly in store (in the same size).... Carhartt has varying size discrepancies between products so your best bet is trying them on before purchase. Quality is still top notch. Very impressed with the jacket just wished it fit true to size or like the other ones I own.
