Rated 5 out of 5 by from This jacket rocks my socks. Exactly what you would expect from a Carhartt product. Its thick but not too thick. Nice and warm, but you wont sweat in it. Seems to be durable - probably last forever. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great jacket w/few imperfections; would buy again Great jacket; great water-resistance. Not quite true to relative sizes—I own another large-size Carhartt jacket, & when I received this jacket in the same size it was quite big. I gave it to my father who wears XL & the jacket fit him perfectly whereas my new medium-size fits like my other large jackets. The inner mesh lining is also somewhat abrasive to the skin when one wears a short-sleeve shirt underneath the jacket—maybe this will go away with wear & wash, but regardless it’s not too bothersome. (Keep making quality products, Carhartt! Don’t sell-out to cheap sweatshop manufacturers now that your brand has increased in popularity!)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Carhartt Men's Rain Defender Rutland Thermal Lined I bought 2 of these as gifts. One for my husband and one for my son-in-law, who is a hunter. My husband is thrilled with his. He wears a lot of sweatshirts but he didn't have one that was rainproof. The first time he put it on he had to take it off due to an unusually warm winter. It has since cooled down and now he wears it almost all the time. I use to worry when he had to go out and shovel snow but now I know he is well covered in rain and snow and is snug and warm. Thank you for such an excellent product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It's an OK jacket.....* Definitely NOT like the original * I've been wearing Carhartt for about 23years now..I work in outdoor construction and I need good warm heavy duty clothing...I gotta say..I really don't know what happened to Carhartt clothing ..the clothes I wore years ago are So much better then, than now..I still have a few of these Original jackets and what a huge difference..the zipper was huge..strong!..it was the Best..this jacket..well...it's ok..nothing to be bragging about..I Wish Carhartt would go back to their roots and show everyone why Carhartt is the Best for construction and for the Blue Collar men and women out there..it's just Not the same as it was........

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You can’t beat the Rutland for all around daily use. Given that quality is the hallmark of the Carhartt brand, it goes without saying that this sweatshirt is durable; it’s the level of quality for the price that really impresses me. The shell is a high quality cotton polyester blend but the 100% polyester shell and sleeve lining are what sets this one apart. The thermal quality and quality texture make putting it on and taking it off a breeze. The sweatshirt is just heavy enough to be a solid layer under an outer shell on the coldest days and it holds its own in weather 40+ just fine. It’s good looking and I wear it everywhere on the weekends and whenever I wear casual.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nearly perfect sweatshirt with small hood Giving this sweatshirt less than five stars is painful for me, because it's so close to perfection. Everything about the Rutland is fantastic except the hood, which another reviewer called "oddly small." I agree. Why is the hood so small? I have the Paxton, which is almost identical except for the lining, and it has a spacious, normal-sized hood. Why not give the Rutland a normal-sized hood? I don't like the hood on the Rutland. I prefer my Paxton for that reason. If you require the thermal lining, in my opinion the Rutland's small hood is not a deal-breaker. It's not so small that it's unusable. But it's small enough that I would choose the Paxton because of its better hood.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very nice jacket but that thermal lining is not so comfy... I ordered this jacket while it was on discount and I am very happy with how warm and dry it keeps me. I did what other reviewers suggested and ordered 1 size smaller than I usually do and it fits perfectly. The only thing I do not like about the jacket is the way the thermal lining feels on the skin. It's as if my arms were wrapped in a fishing net. I decided to use the money that I saved from the discount and send the jacket to a tailor to add a layer of flease inside of the sleeves to make it a lot more comfortable. Over all love the quality and rain defence, but comfort is a 3 thanks to the thermal lining.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Sweatshirt/Jacket! I bought this a couple weeks ago and its overall a perfect addition to my wardrobe. I'm trying to wear this as often as possible. I have the ability to wear this in place of my coat when its not extremely cold. I love the inside pocket for my wallet. I can keep it on in the office if its a tad cold and I don't get looks like the strange person wearing a jacket in the office. This was my first top I've purchased of Carhartt and this does run big. I had to take the medium back and get a small. I'm usually a medium and even a large in some cases, was not expecting to get a small. I'm 5'10 and 180 lbs with a fairly muscular build.
