Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect I love these shorts, I own 5 pairs of them. The material is so great, it is tough and resist tears, light weight, drys quickly. Perfect. I wear them on warm days when hunting, the material isn't very load, and it is so much lighter than many other tech shorts I have owned. But don't confuse light weight with weakness, I climb all over the place in these, through some of the thickest brush Oregon has to offer, both on the coast and here in the Rogue Valley, and I have yet to rip or tear a pair. The zip pockets are great, plenty of storage room. I really cant say enough about these shorts. Get a pair and you'll know what I mean.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Terrible Sizing As usual, Columbia sizes their clothing much smaller than it actually is. I purchased this in what I thought would fit me just fine. I wear all of my other jeans and shorts in a 33-34 waist and have no problems with other companies' sizing. When I received this short in 34" waist, I couldn't even get it up to my waist. It's like they made this short for a man with a 34" waist, but designed the rest of the short for somebody with a 29" waist. The legs were far to tight to even consider. Once I could actually pull it up to where I could button it, the waist size was correct, but it's far to small in the legs and butt to even be considered comfortable, let alone be used for hiking.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad Pockets I have bought these exact shorts a few years ago and thought they were great, but the new ones are constructed very well, but the pockets are worthless, except for the one cargo pocket with the zipper. My old shorts had a zippered pocket for money or keys, then the back pocket was zippered for wallet, then both cargo pockets were zippered, kept my stuff very safe. The new pockets are terrible, I have had my wallet fall out, I have had my money clip fall out, I have had my keys fall out. If you don't plan on carrying anything in your pockets the shorts are good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent outdoor wet-dry shorts, but... These shorts are comfortable and fit great. Their ability to dry quickly after being in the water rocks! I've been wearing mine all summer. I have them on now. The belt works great, however, there needs to be two more belt loops. I'd take the two on either side of the fly/button and move them closer in and then add another pair, one each hip. Also, the two front pockets don't work well enough to hold anything in them because they're not deep enough. There's not enough space between the top of the bottom opening of these pockets to the bottom of the pockets to allow them to hold anything other than lint.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as good as my last pair The belt buckle is almost half the size of my last pair and the construction is thinner and cheaper. Worst of all, the buckle is hard to use. The old one was much better. I swapped the new one out for the old one luckily. The stitching on the new pair (made in Bangladesh) is clearly not as robust as my previous pair (made in Vietnam). There's considerably less stitching and the thread is thinner. Frankly, I can't see where Columbia has made this new pair better, it's just made more cheaply. I expected better quality, not less.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not as good as last year's I bought a couple of these last year or the year before. I liked them so much that I decided to buy a couple more this year. While I have not worn them much yet I have already found one feature that was nicer in the older shorts. Namely the belt. The new belt clasp is not as easy to use, feels less secure, and feels cheaper than the old belt. Beyond this the shorts are still comfortable and provide all the features I require in a hiking short. A year ago I would have rated these 5 stars overall and 5 stars for quality and function. I would probably still have rated them 5 stars if I did not have the older shorts to compare. Just a minor step down in quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Silver-Ridge Cargo Shorts [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These shorts are really nice shorts. The reason my husband does not like them is because of the netting in the bottom of the hand pockets. This netting is always used in shorts of this kind to allow water to escape. However, it would be really nice if Columbia would invest a few more cents in their pockets of these shorts and use a fabric that would be strong enough to hold a man's keys and change without ripping the fabric. This is the only complaint; pockets are very important these days to everyone, hence the cargo shorts.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Be careful of shorts I bought these same shorts in the Outlet stores and they were $5.00 or a little more less in cost, yet you can never find the color even though the outlet store says they will get them…and I made like 7 trips. The two I got online and shipped to me albeit the same shorts had a design difference. The front pockets on the ordered shorts were better and seemed normal whereas the pockets on the Outlet store shorts were shorter and I am now of the belief that the Outlet shorts are a defect and while not being sold as such are actually seconds/defect products. It is also difficult to get them in sizing that this company offers like you can never find the 10 inch length although it is offered.
