The Columbia Men's South Canyon Long Down Parka is a winter coat for cold, snowy days. Long in length and toasty warm, you can shovel the drive, walk to the office, even get to an outdoor mall and shop for and with the family. The Omni-Tech shell is waterproof and breathable, protecting against wet snow and even rain while 650 fill power down dials up the heat without bringing extra weight. Adjust the warmth level on the hood by removing the faux fur trim, but the hood itself stays attached so you won't lose it in the box of gloves past in the hall closet.

Columbia Omni-Heat Reflective

Columbia Omni-Heat Reflective
Columbia Omni-Heat Reflective is a technical fabric used to regulate temperature. When you see tiny silver dots lining your outer wear, think reflection because that's just what they're there for. They reflect your very own body heat back at you, retaining the warmth you're already generating. It is also breathable, so you won't overheat at the same time as well as wicks moisture away from the body to keep you dry.

The waterproof, windproof and breathable technology for getting outdoors in wet and windy conditions. Your body heat escapes while rain can't come inside. Sorta magical, but mostly just science.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very warm. While indoors so warm it’s uncomfortable. Wonderful in single digit -0 degree weather so far. I run very warm so just a t-shirt or buttonup is all the layers I need with this coat. Being the tall option, this is the first coat that fits my sleeve length. Even the hood and arms feel thick with insulation. Pockets are large roomy and keep the cold out but the fleece texture is not the most luxerious of materials against dry peeling hands. A different material would make it 5. Nice being able to use one coat and be warm, instead of layers and layers under a coat to still be cold.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For every man, there's a coat.. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm a big man in a little world, and my quest for a coat that I can rely on has consumed most of my adult life. Will it last me the long dark of winter nights, when all hope seems lost? Can I wear it to a fancy dinner party with celebrities and foreign dignitaries? Will it give me warmth and succor on the mean streets of this rough and tumble world? Can I rely on it while hiking the back country, when lives depend on me? The answer, my friends, is yes. By the love of God, and all that is holy... yes. This coat fits right. It looks good. And I know it's got my back when bad news comes a'callin'. In a swiftly darkening world, my friends, I don't think I have to tell you this... but that still means something... that still means something...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible zipper Hi! If you want to compete with the big boys get better zippers. I had to pull this jacket over my head Because the zipper was stuck. You can do great stuff. The jacket is fine but the zipper stinks. Even if you raise your price because you’re spending more on zippers is okay and so much better than getting a bad zipper. So I’m gong to trade this one in for a different style. People will say they hate the jacket because of a bad zipper. Richard

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love this parka [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I live in North Dakota and have had the opportunity to wear this parka in -20 weather and also in -15 with 35 mph winds weather. It performed quite nicely. I like the outer fabric. It is soft even when cold. It doesn't get stiff. What I don't like about the parka: It needs a two way zipper, It needs a waist cinch that pulls in from the outer layer (that way if you wear bib overall snow pants you can adjust), it needs larger sleeves and cuffs, and it needs to have the reflective lining on the sides too. Only the main body, front and rear, have it. Columbia makes two other heavy parkas. Maybe they have these features. I would definitely buy this again. I love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Alaska. Can't beat the price. Sizing: 6'1", 170 lbs, size M fit perfectly, no extra room on sleeve length. If taller or broader, get a L. Warmth: I lived in Boston, then DC, now LA, and took a trip to Alaska. I haven't lived in Boston for eight years, so my last real winter coat was a little ragged. I bought this parka specifically for Alaska and it performed adequately. It is not the warmest, puffiest coat of all time, but for the price, it was great. It is 650 down, so "technically" very warm, and when properly layered helped me survive standing around in -10*F weather waiting for the Northern lights. To be clear, I layered a thermal undershirt, T shirt, sweater, sweatshirt, and finally this parka. It's a great wind-resistant outer layer for super-cold weather, and a solid easy outer layer for mid-range temps. Style: The fur on the hood is not a thin ring, but rather protrudes away from your face a bit. At least it's detachable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Warm and Weather Resistant I bought this parka in the early Fall before it gets cold daily here in Oregon. I LOVE IT. Oregon gets TONS of rain and a little snow on average. Last week we had the mother of all winter storms, an ice storm. This parka kept me nice and warm in temperatures down into the teens. It also kept me dry, which is very important. The only thing I don't like about it is the faux fur. Which you can take off and I do. It gets too drippy wet in heavy rain and with it off the hood doesn't come as far down on my forehead as I would like. I think Columbia should ditch the faux fur all together. But aside from that it is virtually the perfect Winter weather parka for staying warm and dry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product. Great Price Purchased this for my early morning trail hikes in my area of North Texas. It may surprise many to hear that temperatures do regularly drop below freezing in the winter in many parts of TX, but I digress. I can now go for my morning hikes in the cold, and windy conditions we get often. A bonus that this is waterproof. Went hiking in 20F this morning, and I was toasty in this jacket. We're expecting 12F tomorrow, and I'll layer up, and head out with confidence in this jacket. As for fit, this jacket runs large. Usually, I wear size L, but I ordered size M for this jacket, and it fits perfectly, leaving plenty of room for layering. I'm 5'11, athletic build, 197lbs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just one flaw [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this coat for my son after much looking. He loves it. The style, the fit and mostly the warmth. The only flaw is the left pocket zipper. After putting his wallet and keys inside the pocket he zipped it closed...and could not open it. We had to take it to the store and they cut them out! We ordered another coat. Same problem. We were able to get it open and he loves the coat so much he kept it. He just had to remember not to zip the left pocket all the way.
