Product Reviews
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best waterproof down jacket around [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's tough to find a good truly waterproof down jacket and previously I liked the OutDry Ex Gold Hooded Down since it was the best I could find. It did the job and kept me really warm but the waterproof coating always began peeling before the end of the season. I was stoked to see this new option and so far this season it has held up great. The superior construction and waterproofing without a coating seems like it will hold up MUCH better. I typically wear a large size tshirt but this fits much like other Columbia and a Medium is the best fit for me at 6 foot 190 lbs.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from disappointed [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have the OutDry Ex Gold Hooded jacket and I love it. It hasn't worn terribly well, but can be purchased for little enough money that I don't mind replacing it every couple of years. The OutDry waterproofing is fantastic. I bought this jacket thinking I could replace my other down jacket which I use in colder weather with this one. I live in SE Alaska, where it rains A LOT, and snows, and waterproofing is essential. This jacket is good, except that the lowest seam isn't taped. I was walking in the rain, expecting to stay dry, and found that my hands were getting wet in the hand pockets in the front of the jacket, because of the untaped seams. A deal-breaker, for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Runs true to size [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m writing this review because the on-line advice said “consider down-sizing”. I usually get medium size apparel but since it’s a close call this time I ordered small size. It really is a small size, so I’d recommend not down-sizing. As usual, Columbia makes returns easy, so no problem, just a recommendation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great deal on a nice jacket [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Had this jacket for a few weeks. This Alta Peak fits perfectly - XL on a 6’1 220lbs guy. Materials feel quality. We’ve had some cold (9f-25f) days, some with biting wind, and I was never cold wearing a T-shirt or long sleeve. To compare my previous jacket is a North Face Triclimate. I liked that jacket but was too hot if we drove up to the mountains or were inside for a few minutes. When it’s super cold out like under 10F, the triclimate was warmer for sure, but like I said, I wasn’t cold or uncomfortable with the Alta Peak. The full zip and hood on the Alta Peak were also nicer than the triclimate. I’ll probably make this Alta Peak my daily winter jacket and save the triclimate for Snowboarding only.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice quality jacket [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a good quality cold weather, wet climate jacket and wore it today for the first time as the heavy rains and cold weather started for the winter season. My only small complaint it is slightly snug at the lower arm area if you wear any layered clothing like a sweater.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great product, a few issue though [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This jacket is incredible. I purchased it in January in Portland and began hiking in it immediately. I hike about once a week. This jacket fits very well, true to size but, it just runs a little slim so it may be a tight fit for larger people. The jacket is "waterproof" when it comes to light showers and short exposures to rain. I went on a 5 mile hike in slow, sleet and rain two days ago and while it kept me relatively dry, some water still eventually soaked through and got everything in my pockets wet and my torso was very damp. I still stayed extremely warm and didnt feel how wet I was until I got back to my car but nonetheless it happened. Overall it is an amazing jacket but I would say extremely water resistant not waterproof.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Happy [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very lightweight for how warm it is. I haven't been in any severe cold weather yet but it has kept me very comfortable in 30-50 degree weather without getting too hot/overheated. I would imagine this is a result of good technology. The design, look, and feel are all great.
