Columbia Omni-Heat Reflective

Columbia Omni-Heat Reflective
Columbia Omni-Heat Reflective is a technical fabric used to regulate temperature. When you see tiny silver dots lining your outer wear, think reflection because that's just what they're there for. They reflect your very own body heat back at you, retaining the warmth you're already generating. It is also breathable, so you won't overheat at the same time as well as wicks moisture away from the body to keep you dry.

Columbia Turbodown

Columbia Turbodown
Columbia Turbodown is a hybrid insulation for bringing the heat to your next cold weather activity. Found in jackets and vests, the synthetic Omni-Heat™ Thermal insulation comes together with down to warm your upper half. The one-two punch allows for a lightweight piece that keeps heat in. Not only that, the interior is lined with Omni-Heat™ Reflective, sending your own body heat right back at you at the same time.

Product Reviews
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Thin, Light, Not Very Warm [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Mine runs a little big in the chest and snug in other areas. The coat is advertised as the lightest and warmest they've made. I beg to differ. I went out in 28F weather and was freezing. For a down jacket and a thermal lining I expected better. I would say the optimal temperature for this jacket is 35-50F. Don't expect this to keep you warm in freezing or well below freezing temperatures. They made this thing thin and light and with that comes the issue of warmth. I'll take my Carhartt out in true winter weather. The previous jacket I had from Columbia was exceptional. I could be warm in -10F. Not with this one...

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Light Coat for Cool Weather I am 6'4", 185lbs, with 37" sleeves. I purchased a Large Tall. Sleeves were long enough (Yay!) But coat was not warm enough for MI fall , winter weather. I need something with 800-900 down fill , not 550, in a Large Tall size. I am not sold on the astronaut suit interior lining that is supposed to reflect your body heat back onto you. When I wear short sleeves (all the time) this reflective lining material is cool/cold when it touches my skin, not what I want in a down coat. My other down coats with nylon or fleece interior lining do not have this cold to the touch feel. This reflective lining did not seem to keep me any warmer either.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good winter jacket. I bought this jacket to be an every day winter jacke when I have to be outside more than an hour. So far, the jacket has lived up to expectations in frigid (teens and low 20's) temps. We'll see how the jacket functions when the temps go to zero and -5 degrees in January (Cleve, OH). Regarding quality...Excellent fit. I'm 6,'2",260 lbs. In my opinion, could use one more interior or exterior pocket (the jacket has 3 pockets, could use a 4th). The jacket is shedding feathers/down material. I don't know if this is normal, maybe someone can inform me as such. Not cool that I have to lightly brush my shirt every time I wear the coat. Otherwise, 5 stars. 4.25 is my rating.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Winter in Minnesota -14 below Zero [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Okay, I have read other reviews so I was afraid to wear it out in -14 below zero weather but, needed to remove some snow from my drive way. I also wanted to really see for myself if the jacket could keep me warm at -14 below with a -34 below wind chill. I put on a pull over sweater on under the 590 TD Columbia. I was really surprised the outside of the coat was cold to the touch but I was not even a little bit cold. It worked great. So, buy the 590 TD and enjoy the -14 below zero cold.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Value [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This coat is very warm and toasty on those cold winter days. The ultralight feeling is great considering the warmth from the down. You can barely feel that you are wearing a winter coat. The pockets are ample and are positioned in good location to my body (ergnomics). It was suggested that I get one size bigger a decision that I don't regret as the coat fit anatomically. Along with a perfect fit a hidden pocket nestled inside the left breast with ample space and zipper secure additional items. Overall I give this coat 5 out of 5 stars. A well designed coat with you in mind.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Different Perspective I read the reviews on the TALL and BIG sized Voodoo jackets. Can't say I agree with either of them. I've been wearing my jacket in 0 "feels like -14" weather and have been warm. The jacket knocks down the wind too. I walk about a half mile to work and while my glasses freeze the bridge of my nose, everything the jacket covers is warm. I will agree with the one review of the Big size that the down comes out of the jacket. I'm not sure if they have ever owned a down jacket like these though. I have owned four, all different brands and they all of them had some down work it's way through the fabric. This happens to the down pillows I have on my couch too meaning it has nothing to do with the fabric or its thickness. I'm 6'4" tall, 36" arm and 52" chest. I ordered a 2XT and the jacket does fit big around the neck and core just fyi.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Voodoo Falls jacket [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This jacket uses the reflective insulation. It is NOT as warm as expected. I don't know why Columbia doesn't use a rating system that uses their (no doubt) abundant data to rank their garments' warmth. I have bought 13 Columbia garments this year. (Had to replace everything.) I think Columbia uses the finest outer fabrics with some of the best workmanship in the business. As near as I can see, their garments (that use this reflective technology) ALL need more insulation to achieve the intended goal. This Voodoo Falls jacket is great for layering but (on its own) I won't trust it below 30 degrees. Especially if the wind is blowing. I have lived in ND my whole life. I have worked outside in it and played in it. I know a lot about cold weather. Columbia could learn a few things.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This coat has a problem in the Wind [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really want to like this coat but under windy conditions, even when augmented with a fleece, the coat is not effective. Walking into the wind cold air enters the coat thru the neck, from the bottom and thru the zipped zipper. What is true, on calm days the coat will be warm down to 0 degrees. Went to the beach at 20 degrees with 5-10 mph wind gusts and I was very cold. One odd thing is Columbia said the coat ran large. I found and arms and shoulders fit perfectly, but the circumference of the body and neck were large.
