Columbia Omni-Grip
A rubber outsole for hiking shoes. The special rubber has been formulated to grab the earth, whether it be dirt, rock or gravel, to help you not only propel forward through the hike, but break when necessary on the downhills. Rated 4 out of 5 by 3d3mir from Very snug fit [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just arrived, so i cannot testify for the qualities, but i can verify that this shoe runs small. I very rarely buy a shoe that is larger than size 36 (not sure if it is 5.5 or 5 here, sorry) and i ordered a size 6 shoe based on the reviews. Either US and European sized don’t translate well, or this shoe is really small :) 1 size up in European scale is very rarely a good fit, but this one fits like a glove. I was concerned that it might even be too snug a fit, but reviews say they will stretch a bit, so i decided not to exchange. Loved the feel and the gray-purple combo of the color btw :)

I wore them for about 20 minutes around the house to ensure they fit before my trip. I wore them for several days in Peru, including for a visit to Machu Picchu; they were very comfortable. One day it poured, so I can also attest to them being waterproof! Some of the other reviews advised purchasing a 1/2 size up, which I did. While I am usually true to size, I am glad I took the advice.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Angie15 from Nice hiking shoes [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall, I really like these shoes. They are a comfortable fit, good tread and broke in easy. I haven't tested them in the water yet, but they appear they'll be fine. The only reason I marked as 4 stars instead of 5 is the shoes had a VERY strong chemical smell right out of the box. I had to air them out for several weeks and the smell is just now starting to dissipate.

I have three pairs of these Crestwood Waterproof shoes and find them to be the most comfortable and yes, waterproof shoes that I have owned in years. I try to walk my dogs daily and often the grass is wet from dew, or rain. These shoes keep my feet dry and comfortable. It says a lot when you put on a new pair of shoes and walk three miles without a blister. I attribute part of that to my Darn Tough socks, but they work great together. I didn’t buy three pairs for no reason. Thanks Columbia!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I usually wear a TTS 8, however some reviews commented that this shoe ran small and to order a 1/2 size larger - which I did but it was too big. I would say this shoe falls in to that 1/4 size range I noticed with a few other waterproof shoes I ordered. This could be helpful if you are between sizes, but I'm not. I otherwise found it to be a comfortable and solid shoe, with a roomy toe box. I think an 8 would probably be a bit short.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Disappointed from I'm a long term Columbia customer. Bought this shoe and was not happy with the small amount of padding in the tongue and heel. After several days of breaking it in and about 10 days of wearing it for walking (not hiking) the front toe guard separated from the mesh. Customer service wanted the shoes sent back at my expense.

I am on my feet all day, so comfort is a priority. These shoes also look nice, I bought the graphite version. Pretty purple trim. I normally buy a 10 (& did) but I measure 9.5. These initially were tight. But after 2 wks are beginning to stretch. Very happy with my purchase.

HOW to MEASURE
If you are unsure which shoe size to purchase, please follow the following steps:

1. Place a blank sheet of paper against a wall or other 90 degree surface.

2. Place heel against wall on flat level surface.

3. Mark the end of the longest toe with a pen or pencil.

4. Measure both feet in millimeters and use the larger measurement.

5. Read measurement and compare to size chart.

6. When comparing to the chart, use the closest larger measurement to determine your size per your country's standard.
