Product Reviews
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best shorts These are my “go-to” shorts for hot, humid Maryland summers. I have been buying these and the Sandy River Cargo shorts for years, adding a few new colors each season. They are color fast, launder and dry easily, and last forever. I prefer the Sandy River Shorts over the Cargo Shorts due to the lack of the belt loops (altho a belt is not needed) and the lack of a zippered fly. The Sandy River Shorts are also available in a much wider variety of colors. My only complaint is that I wish they were available in a 6” length vs the 5” length offer. I would also suggest offering the Cargo Short in some of the wonderful colors available in the Sandy River.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Normally a Size 16, XL - bought a XXL [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Normally, I wear a size 16, XL but I bought the XXL in this size since my measurements were on the edge for an XL (39" waist and 48" hips). I hated having to buy an XXL, but I do enjoy how it fits - roomy. I have an extra inch of room in the waist without the elastic expanding. I still have a butt in the back. The shorts are slightly flared out at the bottom. They end about an 1 inch above my knee. I am able to walk without the short bunching up between my legs as often. The shorts washed well, They have a nylon parachute material feel to them. I assume it will help them dry faster.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for camping, hiking and outdoors! Always love Columbia outdoor clothing, they are technologically functional and fit very well too. I just came back from a National Forest camping trip. I wore this for 2 days straight doing camping and hiking. This shorts are so comfortable and functional. The weather was hot, humid and rained multiple times, this shorts are sweat and smell proof while quick dry. I didn't even feel the dampness. The little zipper pocket is so handy to keep my small valuables such as keys. The two pockets are also useful. Also a plus is it is so versatile, goes well with any shirt, and looks great!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great shorts, but sizing is weird [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have several pairs of the Sandy River Colorblock shorts and a couple of pairs of these Sandy River shorts. Although both are made of the same material and both are called Sandy River, the fit is very different. I wear a large in the Colorblock shorts and the fit with them is amazing. So, I bought a size large in these shorts a couple of months ago, but they fit more like a medium. I decided to order another pair of these in an XL, but those actually do fit like an XL. So I'm not quite sure which pair is off in sizing. I got them at such a good deal that it really wasn't worth sending them back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Light Shorths These shorts are surprisingly tough for how light they are, and I love the lengths. I wear the 3" for hanging out or hitting the river, and the 5" for hiking because they don't ride up or cause chafing. Pockets are deep enough to make my phone feel secure while hiking, which I really appreciate. As far as sizing, they fit pretty similar to the Patagonia Baggies. I put on some extra covid weight (went from a 12/14 to a 16) and my normal size XL in these shorts ended up feeling tight so I sized up to an XXL and they are huge. They feel good but look super baggy. Once I drop a few pounds the XL's should be perfect again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sandy River Short I currently own 3 pairs of this short in different colors and from different years of sale. This latest one is a bit thin on the material, but still sufficient. I am quite happy with it in size 1x as it fits around my size 20 waist without making my size 18 hips and legs look like they are swimming in a dumpy pair of shorts. I like the new design with the print around the inner waist band. The color blue you offer is the only reason I was hooked into buying it as I already owned 2 pair in black and brown. It is very pretty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love these shorts [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These are now my favorite slip on shorts because they are so comfortable and lightweight. They're perfect for lounging in the house or any outdoor activities. I was concerned about selecting the right size because I have a large waist. At first I bought the Medium but they were too large. Then I purchased the Small, 5 inch inseam. I have a short torso, my waist is 31", my hips are 36.5", weigh 130lbs and the fit was perfect. I'll be returning the Mediums and order a few more colors in the Small size.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Two more inches and I would buy them in every color These are (almost) exactly right for me…lightweight, quick dry, comfortable, good pockets! I saw an older woman (in her 80s!) at the beach wearing these and thought she looked great. When I wear them (I’m a young-looking 64 years) I look good, but not great. If Columbia were to make these 2” longer, at a 7” inseam, I’d never stop buying them. Older women like shorts, too, and we can look awesome in them. But a tad longer version would help us really kick it up.
