Hiking Shorts?I'm looking to buy some summer shorts for hiking the AT Trail. I like the length of these, but where are the pockets? Women have things to carry too. When hiking on the trail, I like to keep things in cargo pockets that are easy to get to if I need them. Things like knives and a compass are a must. I don't want to spend all day digging through a pack or even a day bag just to find little things I need. Why are all hiking pants for women being made like tights and skin tight biker pants with no cargo pockets? Shorts and pants like these aren't made for a hiker...especially one in the mountains. Maybe these women can hime around the Mall or their suburb? I'll keep looking for some functional hiking clothes.

Love the fit, hate the double inner thigh seamsI bought these shorts as an alternative to my favorite Columbia shorts that were discontinued, east ridge. The same size fit perfectly and the fabric is nice. I also love the fact that there is a real elastic free waist on these. Thought they were great until I walked around the house in them. The extra seam on the inner thighs rub and cause the leg to rotate. It also makes the material feel bulky and really warm/restrictive between the thighs. Otherwise, exactly want I wanted. Returning them unfortunately.
If you are not bringing back the east ridge style, then please make these without the extra inner thigh seams.

Lightweight and perfect![This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my second pair of these shorts. They look great in town and are perfect for a hike or the outdoors as well. Fabric is lightweight and has some stretch to it. Good length for coverage yet range of motion. I ordered a size larger (usually a 10 but ordered a 12 in these) because I don't really like a tight fitting short and wanted to utilize the pockets. (If you like a close fit, then order your normal size.) I love all the pockets for keys, phone, etc. Washes well and dries quickly. I've washed them in the sink and after rolling in a towel and hanging up they are ready the next day. Perfect for my traveling.

Order one size up!Order one size up! Despite the notice when ordering these that I should order one size up, I didn't do it because I already own a pair of these shorts that fit well so I ordered the same size. They were too small. I wasn't sure if I should return and reorder one or two sizes up so I returned and reordered three pair that were two sizes up and one that was one size up. I just returned and reordered two pair that were too large (I kept one pair because I wore them for a day to test them out). I do love these shorts now that I have the correct size. They are just above my knees and very comfortable. I also love all the pockets. Had it not been for the mis-sizing, and the hassle of returning them, I would give these 5 stars.

Not made for PearsI love these shorts; I'm a hiker and I needed exactly these for an upcoming trip. I have four other pairs of Columbia pants and the thing that kills me is the waistline. These are what I call Columbia's "hard pant" waist. It's built for someone with a smaller waist and stomach, and so even though they fit in my thighs, and hips, the extra stretch present in the shorts doesn't extend into the waist. I'm at the top of the size range, so these will have to go back. I should say that Columbia isn't offering custom sizes for each type of pant /short - it's ONE general size chart. So even though my Back Beauty pants and my Anytime Outdoor pants have TONS of room in them (they fall down when I hike); in the same size, I can't close the button without a muffintop on these.

Lightweight and comfortable!Great shorts for many reasons. Lightweight! Very comfortable in hot weather! Love the zipper side pocket and velcro back pockets. The side pockets are big enough to squeeze in a pickleball. Great shorts for activity or hiking. I love the fit, trim in legs yet roomy enough for curvy thighs. Some shorts are so big and boxy, these have a flattering fit. Love that they come in two lengths. 10” or 12”.
12” fits just above knees on me (5’8”).
Holds up after many washings. I keep adding new colors to my collection. This is my 4th pair!
My only complaint is inconsistent sizing. Generally they are true to size but one pair fits tighter than others. Size 6 fits well on me.
130 lbs 5’8”.

off the wall fit[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Totally different than the knee pant of the same name this time. The Saturday Trail is not new to me - I have worn them for years and both the capri and the shorts previously fit the same. Not this time.
IDK if the shorts were mislabeled at the factory but they ran 2 sizes small this time and I refuse to size up 2 sizes. Sorry! I attached an image of both the knee pant and the shorts - both brand new and not worn yet, with the shorts over the capri so you can see the difference inthe sizing. I sent this image to Columbia ...this is not right. These shorts fit like yoga pants or bike shorts ...not the look I was after. Plus they cause the dreaded c/toe affect. Fabric is great, lots of stretch and comfort but the fit is way off

Very comfortable shorts[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These shorts move with you. I bought a few pair several years ago and they ran a whole size smaller than I typically wear in other brands. I just recently bought a few more pair and they seem to be slightly larger than they used to be , but still on the small side. Right now I am wearing a size 10 in Columbia shorts and a size 6 or 8 in other brands of clothing. However, I have shed a few pounds recently so they are a little on the loose side for me which is how I prefer them to fit.
