Rated 3 out of 5 by RitaJ from Little pot belly, so its too narrow bought this awesome jacket for my 9 yr old grandson who has a little bit of a pot belly. got a Medium and it fits him great in the shoulders and arms (with a little room to grow)... the length of the torso of the jacket is perfect (just covers bottom)... but the torso WIDTH is too small. Get this jacket only if your child is somewhere between lean and very average. Any little pot belly what so ever, and this one will not be a good fit in the torso. I should have paid closer attention to all the other reviews that say it runs small. Sadly, I'm returning it.

As a male with a smaller build, it became clear that this wasn't going to happen. The solution was to buy from the "boys" department. Enter the Columbia "Boys Watertight Jacket" I'm 5'5" at 130lbs athletic build and ordered both the XL and L to see which one works better. The XL is likely the same size as a mens small. It was a little large (long sleeves and hem), but the shoulders fit well. If you plan on having a good amount of layers under this will be a better bet. I'm keeping the L because the sleeves and hem are perfect. Its a more tailored fit for sure. The only downside is the arm holes are a little tight and can ride up. It may limit mobility just a hair but still wears well. Just keep in mind that layering will be more difficult. Hope this review helps any other below average stature men out there.

It rains a lot, and is overcast so we want him in something. This is a nice fit, he doesn't overheat, and I don't have to worry about him getting cold and wet. This jacket is waterproof, and has a nice hood. So, even though he doesn't think about getting wet and catching cold, I can put this on his backpack--its light and rolls up nicely--it's with him, he doesn't have to lug a big coat around, but he has a nice waterproof jacket whenever he needs it

I got a boys large and it fits a little baggy, but I love that so I can layer underneath. I have worry it in the rain multiple times and it keeps me perfectly dry. It is surprisingly warm as well! I would definitely recommend this jacket to anyone.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Columbia Rain Jacket we all know and love and the Peninsula Blue is a spectacular color! A Columbia Watertight Jacket over a Steen Fleece Jacket keeps me warm under the worst circumstances by breaking the wind. This allows me to dress in layers so I don't often need a heavy winter coat and I'm comfortable during the day when temperatures rise. Mix and match different Watertight Jacket colors with different colored Steen Fleece Jackets and you have lots of fresh, new looks while staying warm and dry under a variety of circumstances. I love these Watertight jackets. Please keep them coming in lots of bright colors, especially Columbia blue!

I'd previously ordered one for our other son and it worked well. We have not yet tested it in the rain but I'm sure it will work well. I especially like the adjustable velcro wrist straps so he can tighten them or loosen them as needed to fit over gloves or just to keep rain out. I do wish the pockets were lined with fleece to help warm hands as the Colorado rain is always cold and it's a nice touch to keep little fingers from freezing. The hood is oversized to fit over a hiking hat or ball cap but it 's not too big that it flops in their face if they just pull it over their head.

Rated 5 out of 5 by namasteshiva from Fantastic Rain Jacket This has been a staple in my sons wardrobe. This is a great waterproof jacket that is perfect for Oregon weather, spring to late fall. He can wear it alone or layered and he is always comfortable and dry. My son loves the colors and he will grab this jacket on his own, so I know it's a good. He still forgets it at school and we find it in the lost and found but that's another issue! If you're looking for a waterproof jacket that will get a lot of wear then this is the one. Get it.
