Rated 3 out of 5 by from Really wanted to love these. Critical design flaw. The fit was spot on. The styling exactly what I was looking for. And comfort would have been 5 stars - except the material seam around the ankle area knit fabric is placed directly on your achilles tendon and doesn't have anything covering it. Low or no-show socks (as is typically worn with this style of shoe) do not protect your skin from the abrasion. Other knit shoes have some suede or leather on this area. In my case the material is very sharp and, unfortunately, leaves the shoes unwearable. Both left and right have this issue but one side is more prominent than the other.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice, lightweight, breathable shoe. Very nice, lightweight, breathable shoe. Keeps my cute little tootsies nice and cool down here in the southern Louisiana summer heat. Nice, pliable shoe, great for the gym, but maybe not a long trek through the rapidly gentrifying (yet still dangerous) neighborhoods of New Orleans. I think the color is super fly, too, especially with us being down here in the swamp with the gators! I LOVE A MOSSY GREEN! Anyway, yeah, me and my spouse both love these shoes and we fight over who gets to wear them, like, regularly. It has caused a lot of marital strife. Thanks a lot, Danner!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Blister Machine I love Danner, and I really wanted to love these so much. They seemed like a blend of a city shoe and a light hiker, lightweight and perfect for hot weather. And the design is just awesome. But if you have to walk more than a mile, you'll get a blister on the back of your ankle, above the heel. I got different inserts and tried all kinds of socks, but the fact that there just isn't any padding on the back of the foot is a critical design flaw. (It's not a sizing issue, they fit perfectly.) If they put some padding back there, these would go from unwearable to my daily shoe.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good light weight walking shoes [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Caprine shoe feels really light in weight for a quarter top shoe and I like that, I was expecting a heavy boot but it's deffinatley. They seem to really form to the foot nicely extremely comfortable. I don't see these as hiking shoes but deffinatley something you could take on a long walk or just casual wearing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I got these for two I got these for two reasons: They were on sale, and I really wanted a sturdier casual shoe. I saw a few reviews about the fit at the ankle, and it is a little loose, but I think trying different lacing patterns would help. I usually wear socks that cover the ankle so I don’t really get the issue of them rubbing on my ankle all day. I went with a half size smaller since they are knit, and I thought they would eventually stretch out. Not a significant amount of stretching yet, but they are still fairly comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If superheroes wore a shoe . . . . . . this would be it. I loved them right out of the box, and ordered a second pair in another color. This is the shoe I’ve been waiting on: a hybrid street/trail shoe that can be worn with just about anything. Some have commented on what they view as excessive heel slippage. To me, there is only an appropriate amount of heel slippage in a new shoe. I wear a 13.5 C, and the 13s are perfect. They do run a bit long, but for me, that works. I’m not sure these would be a great fit for a wide foot, however.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Caprine boot [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Greafitting comfortable light boot. Only wish it were American made. I assumed most of Danner products were but not these. Still a good product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very comfortable shoe with no Very comfortable shoe with no break in period. I've wore Danner boots since the mid 90's and never had a blister. Don't think I'm going to get one with these either. Not a tennis shoe kind of guy but I needed a new pair and chose these because I'm an outside kind of guy. Wear these to the gym and they perform just like a tennis shoe but with a rugged look to them. They are very light weight and have a Vibram sole for off road travel.

HOW SHOULD MY BOOTS FIT?

Danner builds boots for their intended use. You'll find that our styles fit differently depending on how they should perform in the field.

Hiking
-Right out of the box your hiking boots should feel somewhat snug on the sides of your feet (you aren't sliding side-to-side) with a little room at the toes (you don't want your toes to touch the tip of the boot just standing on flat ground).

-Make sure when you walk your heel doesn't slide up the back of the boot substantially.

-Make sure that you aren't feeling any pinching or pain while walking around your house. If you feel pinching at your big or little toe you probably need a wider boot or perhaps a larger size.

Work
-Your work boots should match the anatomical make-up of your foot, widening slightly in the toe-box for a secure platform to stand on.

-Right out of the box you should feel comfort, cushion and support underfoot, for long days on your feet.

-You may feel that they're slightly stiff or snug right out of the box, but after a few weeks of break-in they should move easier at the flex points and conform to your foot, fitting like a glove.
