Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great, durable bag for light weight travel We bought 2 of the 26 EC Lynx System bags for a recent 3 weeks trip to safari camps in Zambia, Botswana, and South Africa. The small 8 and 12 seat planes that land on the small strips have strict size and weight limits and require soft sides to max loading of the small cargo holds. These bags worked perfect and survived those planes plus checking them on the international airlines from/to the U.S. No damage whatsoever to the exterior fabric or the removable frame and wheels. We never removed the frames. When not in use, they collapse flat for easy storage. One of the best decisions we made for that trip.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost Perfect Great all around bag, best I have seen for a roller/backpack combo, dissapointed that it doesn't come with a shoulder strap like the 29 does and that the 29 doesn't have the backpack option. Eagle Creek are you listening!!!!!, the disassembling roller frame is a bit hokey and seems to be a bit fragil, time will tell.Seems like a detachable one would have been fine and skipped the snap together part. My 2 biggest gripes are The side carry handle is off centered so the bag kicks in and rubbs my leg when carring it and doesn't hang down straight, and the egg shape causes a reduced interior volume compared to a rectangle with the same outside footprint. A more of a retangular outline would have been a better shape. Otherwise great bag, good zippers and light weight fabric, hopefully it will last aslong as my last Eagle Creek bag that I have had for the last 20 years of living out of on a daily basis for extensive travel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Survived 3 Countries and 7 Plane Rides! I bought this suitcase for a 7 week trip to the Philippines, Hong Kong and New Zealand. I had originally bought the Osprey Shuttle 28, but knowing I would be moving around a lot as well as camper-vanning in New Zealand (where space would be at a premium), I started looking for a smaller, more versatile bag that could still accommodate all my needs. The Lync 26 fit the bill between a carry-on and a larger checked bag. I was also intrigued by the ability to remove the wheels and convert it to a duffel if needed for storage in the campervan. I'll admit I was somewhat concerned about the durability of the frame and wheel setup seeing as the bag would have to be flown on 7 different flights (including connections) and I couldn't find a lot of reviews of people putting the Lync bags thru checked luggage. Putting the bag and frame together was fairly easy and I was delighted with how light it was. Using the cube packing system, I was able to pack enough clothes for seven weeks (assuming laundry every 10-14 days), two extra pairs of shoes as well as one large cube that was devoted entirely to biking clothing/gear (since we would be mtn biking in NZ). The front pocket held a camelbak, a collapsible daypack and a travel towel. I was even able to stuff some bike covers in the pouch that contained the backpack straps. Even after all that, I still had a little room left over for any small souvenirs I wanted to bring back (and it all only came in at 27 lbs!) In the end, the bag performed wonderfully well and came back pretty much unscathed. It went thru checked baggage in a number of countries and I was always able to easily find the bright blue color on the conveyor. I never ended up taking off the frame/wheels and they held up to everything. The only con would be that due to lack of structure, it can be difficult to close the zippers if you do stuff the bag. But if you have someone else to help hold the zippers together, it becomes a lot easier! I'm extremely happy with my purchase and see this bag lasting for years to come.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Versatile choice! I purchased this bag for a trip to Europe when I knew I'd be taking several different modes of transport to get around (plane, boats, buses and cars!). I was concerned about being able to get around easily when navigating transfers and old cities with cobblestone streets. Pros: * You can take the bag apart which makes storing it easier when you're not traveling. * Lots of pockets!. * The plastic pieces in the front keep the bag stable when standing upright. (I've had problems with other wheeled duffel bags tipping over!) Cons: * When wearing it as a backpack, the wheels pinched my back a little. I haven't used it a lot so I may just need to adjust the straps. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good and easy Love this convertible luggage! Bought a 20" and a 26" for a 3 week trip to Europe with my wife. We were planes, trains, buses. We walked to and fro train terminals to get it our lodgings. The luggage held up well. Was good and easy to carry as backpacks through the city streets where many sidewalks were cobbled, cracked, or unpave. Only negative is that the handle is a single-pole handle. Can't slide on a bag or backpack to roll through airports or train stations.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not a frequent flier I was excited to get this bag after reading about the features and specs. It was very light compared to other bags the same size. It only took a couple of minutes to set up and to break down. I was able to quickly pack the bag with the EC packing system. I liked the compression straps on the inside of the bag and on the outside. Once the bag was packed, I noticed it leaned forward and was easy to tip over. This is due to the hinged foot on the collapsable wheeled frame. I double checked to make sure I had set it up correctly. There is some play in the hinged foot that allows the bag to lean forward when fully packed. I even packed my heavier items on the bottom of the bag, but it still was easy to tip over. I had 20 pounds total when full. The top zippered pocket has limited use when the interior bag is full. The bag was easy to pull and the wheels were smooth. I frequently like to stack a soft briefcase or small bag on top of my wheeled bag, but this bag doesn't support stacking very well. The single handle allows for a lighter frame, but provides less control and stability when pulling the bag through the airport or over concrete/asphalt surfaces. To my surprise the 26 inch bag was able to fit in the overhead compartment of many larger planes (beware that it does NOT comply with the carry on guidelines). I only checked my bag once (gate check) on a smaller jet and was disappointed to receive the bag with a small tear in the outside of the bag when I arrived at my destination. After one business trip to Europe and back (4 days total) I realized that this bag would not hold up to my frequent flying and would not suit the needs of my travel style. I returned the bag immediately after returning from my trip. I bought a different piece of luggage from EC to meet my needs. I have been happy with previous purchases from EC and appreciate the quality of bags that they provide. This bag was not as durable as other bags I have purchased from EC.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality! Top notch quality and really spacious. Lightweight, durable, thoughtfully designed. Love the detachable wheels and the backpack option. Storage bag is great as well. we selected the orange color is perfect - it's not over the top and is easy to see at baggage claim. The pack-it cubes are fantastic - allow easy access inside the duffle and keeps similar items separated. Also good for dirty clothes so they don't soil clean ones in the duffle. If you're going to invest in decent luggage, spend an extra few dollars for these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gift for daughter We are sold on Eagle Creek bags and packing organizers. My regret is that I did not discover them until I was in my 60's! I purchased this EC Lync 26 bag, along with the EC Lync 29, for daughter and her fiancé to use on their European honeymoon. They have a hodgepodge of hand-me-down luggage. We have been to Europe 3 times, so I knew they would want something lightweight, with good wheels for rolling and with the option of carrying with ease. I was torn between this bag system and the load/gear warrior system. Since they do not have much storage space, I chose this. I will say that assembling the bag was waaaay more difficult than the video showed! Husband and I really had to wrestle the bag to get the clips to fasten. Perhaps they will loosen with time. They loved the blue color, as the bags will be easy to spot. She popped out the backpack straps and put it on. We explained that sometimes with stairs to climb or getting on/off trains; carrying the bag is best. Suggestion: Backpack straps for at least the 29 inch bag would be better than the over the shoulder strap. We showed them the Eagle Creek packing organizers that we have. Suggestion: Include the card with the suggested packing organizers (like your other bags have). They are both pleased. I've given 5 stars as it met my expectations. They will need to review after they use the bags.
