Product Reviews

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Deceiving [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Looks like it would be the warmest jacket, but barely does the job for a Chicago winter, even before it’s gotten to its coldest. Ended up returning it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very warm, very cool. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Dope puffer. Solid winter jacket. Real warm. A lot of pockets to put stuff in. Down jackets are rad. The hood is big and warm. No complaints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classy jacket This is my first Fjällräven coat and subject to a number of drawbacks, I have to say it’s a really nice jacket. A bit heavy (2.75 lbs) but still less than comparable coats by other manufacturers and still light enough and non-bulky enough to hike in.. The workmanship is superb and the coat looks great, fits almost perfectly (a bit baggy in the torso, easily rectified by layering), and is fairly warm with 15 oz of 700 fill power down (M). The coat’s rugged fabric feels like it should be waterproof but it’s only water resistant. The hood fits very snugly except that there’s an opening at the neck and collar which lets cold air in. However, cinching the hood draw strings tight makes for almost an airtight sealed hood around your head, leaving only a small portion of your face exposed, a very nice design for sure. A neck gaiter would also address this issue. The pockets are adequate, nothing special. Some cons: the snap buttons that lock the zipper flap in place, tighten the cuffs very snugly around your wrists, and hold the pocket flaps down, can be hard to operate; the zipper, although substantially-sized, is fairly hard to engage; the retro-style hem and hood cinch strings dangling down are not particularly attractive (although the hood strings can be hidden inside the collar). The coat’s 15 oz of down is substantial but since it’s only 700 fp, there’s a limit to how much cold (absent layering) this coat will protect against. However, on balance, this is a meticulously-crafted jacket with a cool retro look that should last a long time. Any coat the heavier predecessor of which was conceived in a snow cave bivy in bitterly cold Northern Sweden in the early 1970s has got to be a great coat! Recommended for sure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I tried it at sub zero temperature [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] And, it did just fine. -2F degrees, only had a base layer underneath and I was not cold at all. It would been more warmer and comfortable with mid layer but I was not cold. The jacket is not ultra light but 'Lite' enough. The sizing is true to its sizing chart. Well made, attention to details, pretty good styling as Fjallraven products all come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Real Deal I was brought up in Vermont and always had a down jacket for skiing etc. The Fjallraven Expedition Lite Jacket brings back memories of warm athletic equipment that I was currently unable to find from other companies. Most other companies use fiber fill not down. This jacket has a full amount of down. And it is beautiful and with style that is unique amongst jackets of this area. It is costly but worth every dollar.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Medium was way big I am 6’ and 155 and according to measurements in the guide a medium was in order. Unfortunately it’s huge for me and I am going to have to return it. To say it’s a full fit would be an understatement. Quality looks great and I love the style, unfortunately it’s way too big at the waste in the chest and back as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic! Warm and stylish [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The jacket arrived as expected, very fluffy and warm. Highly recommend. The hood has a lot of structure for neck coverage. I'm 6'1" and a medium fits perfectly.

FJALLRAVEN FIT NOTES
All you need is a tape measure!
Ask a friend to take your measurements while standing in a straight and relaxed position without shoes. Remember that the tape measure should not be pulled too tight around the body but not be too loose either.

Avoid bulky clothes
For the most accurate result, you should be measured wearing only your undergarments or close-fitting clothing, for example, a base layer. It's not a good idea to measure yourself wearing jeans, sweaters or other bulky clothing.

HOW to MEASURE
ARM LENGTH: Bend the elbow slightly, then measure from the centre back of the neck, over the shoulder to the elbow, and down to the wrist.

CHEST: Measure straight under your arms around your body at the fullest part of your chest.

WAIST: Measure around your waist at the narrowest part.

SEAT: Standing with your feet hip-width apart, measure around your hips at the widest part.
