well built boot[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wear a 9 with a slightly narrow foot. This boot fits pretty well and still gives my toes some breathing room. The heel padding is amazing. I also have a narrow heel and I have NO slippage. I would not advise this boot for a wide(r) foot. I am able to really get a solid fit with the lacing system. They seem to be really well made. May be a little stiff, but I think they will break in nicely. If you are a serious hiker with a slightly narrow foot, these are for you!

Nice boot, not enough arch support[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like the styling and make of the boot. It just didn’t have enough arch support for me. If you don’t need significant arch support might work for you. Unfortunately I’ll be returning them.

Overall foot/ankle support.[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m 63 and was searching for two things: a very supportive ankle boot and a Doc Martens look. I’ve always had achey feet and need orthopedic shoes. (Doc Martens would kill my feet.). I slowly gave up on the look. I ordered the Hanwag boots because they have a lug sole and were not too much like a heavy backpacking boot. They’re more like a trekking boot. I wore them to work for the first time and my feet felt quite good at the end of the day, which is saying a lot!! Actually I’d waited a long time because I couldn’t decide between the size 8.5 and 9 (my regular shoe size). But, I realized the 9 was perfect for my worst foot. I can tighten the boots a lot, and with a thick sock, the boot is good enough for the other smaller foot. I recommend these boots if you want a boot that holds your feet tightly so you have support. I would like a little more arch support, but it’s definitely sufficient. The sole is thick and keeps my feet comfortable walking city blocks from the parking lot to my job. These boots are very, very well crafted and smart looking. The heel is comfortably snug too, which is great for me. I recommend these boots for people blessed with good feet and for those with problem feet like mine.

Comfort and support[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was very impressed by these boots. I was specifically looking for ankle support and certainly found that. In addition, I found more soft comfort than I had expected in a hiking boot. The only downside is that they run quite narrow.
