small throat/entrance way for foot.....once you struggle to get your foot into the shoe, it is light and the design of the platform is responsive and comfortable. wish there was a model that opened up like a traditional shoe, being able to splay it wide, get the foot in and tighten it......sadly, the constricted entrance makes putting it on a task. plus, I purchased an all white shoe and after one day of wear the shoes are very marked up with my day to day activities.....due to the design I doubt another pair are in my future, unless you offer a model that can be splayed open, and then traditionally secured.

Good shoeQuick background on myself: height: 6'1" weight: 189lbs weekly mileage: 15-20 miles average pace: 7:29/mile previous shoes: Pearl Izumi Em Road N0, HokaOneOne Mach current shoes: HokaOneOne Cavu 3, HokaOneOne Hupana EM, HokaOneOne Clifton Edge Okay, now that all that is out of the way. The Cavu 3 is, overall a great shoe. At a size 12 the shoe came in at 8.7 oz, the lightest in my fleet. The shoe has great cushion for a "responsive" sneaker; at the same time I barely notice they're even on my feet. I have narrow ankles, so the "sock-like-feel" is great for me....I really only tie my shoes because I have to, not to make them snug. If you have a thicker ankle or foot, the fit might be annoying to you. Also, I think the toe box is a tad to narrow for my feet. But still a good fit overall.

Its OKThis is the second pair of Cavu's for me. I do not run in them as they are very minimalistic...I wear around the house now that I am working from home. The shoe looks great, very light but the major design change of eliminating the tongue makes the shoe tighter on my foot and therefore eliminates any wiggle room on size for people buying online. The tongue will allow for some people to dial in the laces to get the proper fit and feel. With the absence of a tongue, the shoe will either fit or not which could lead to return shipments before you get the right fit. Not a deal breaker for me but a significant difference from the last generation.

Not sure I would purchase this model againI was a bit disappointed with the Cavu 3 model. In fact, I returned the 2 pairs that I purchased. I currently have the Cavu 2 and I wear a size 7.5 in Men's. These shoes fit me perfectly. I ordered the same size in the Cavu 3 but they are too small. I also didn't care for the fact that the Cavu 3 now has an elastic/stretchy tongue and the shoe laces are laced through the tongue all the way up and down. I wish Hoka would go back to the traditional tongue on their shoes!

Good news and bad news...I'm not a runner but I walk 20-25 miles a week. About 2 years ago I switched to Hoka after trying on several different brands at a local running shop. First the good news. They are probably the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. Now the bad news. They simply don't last. The original Cavu wasn't too bad, but the Cavu2 (I went through 2 pairs in about 7 months) were a disaster. A walker should get more than 3-4 months from a pair of shoes. After three pairs of Hokas, I've switched to another brand. I'm guessing a hard-core runner will sacrifice durability for comfort, but I'm not that guy.

Toe box tighter than previous versionCool color. Good feel in mid-foot to heal. Toe box more and narrow than previous Cavu. Wish I would have ordered a 1/2 size up or gotten wider fit.

Comfortable Trainers for MileageI had the Cavu 2s and loved them and decided to get a pair of the 3s and have really enjoyed them. The new upper on the 3s is very comfortable and breathable but isnt great for speed work as I noticed some sliding around. I would definitely reccomend for casual runs and long runs.

comfortable shoeI have bone spurs on the bottom my feet but no pain with the CAVU3. As I have wider than average feet I hope HOKU will continue to make these shoes with the traditional tongue and NOT put in a fixed, fake tongue like they started to do on some other styles.
