Icebreaker MerinoLOFT

Icebreaker MerinoLOFT
MerinoLOFT is lightweight insulation created from premium, ethically-sourced wool fibers. Ten percent of the loft comes from recycled merino offcuts salvaged from the factory floor, while the jackets’ water repellent shell is made from recycled polyester. MerinoLOFT garments are Icebreaker’s warmest-ever jackets, and are ideal for lightweight layering. Icebreaker is using the latest technology to build the next generation of high performance merino.

Product Reviews
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Premium Lightweight Insulation After a brief use, just wanted to give some feedback on this new jacket. I took it hiking for a couple of days and loved every time I got to throw this on. The Hyperia Lite weighs in at just over 11 ounces, making it almost half the weight of my Helix Hood jacket. With the 70g of Merinoloft, it actually feels a little warmer than the Helix, despite the same insulation (possibly due to the mesh paneling on the sides of the Helix, where the wind can get in; but not on this one). The Hyperia Lite also packs down much better. The weight and compression aren't quite that of down insulation, but for all the benefits that merino and Merinoloft have to offer (temperature regulating, no stink, warm when wet, etc.), those couple of ounces aren't that big of a deal to me. The jacket has a warm, soft, airy, yet slick feel, with nylon on the interior and exterior. It packs down very well into the internal chest pocket (which should be pictured below), and fortunately the designers leave plenty of room for you to effortlessly pack it in (so you're not straining to barely stuff it in the pocket, which is nice). The elastic band around the cuffs and down at the base of the jacket help to shave a little weight while still keeping the warmth trapped close to your body. Needless to say, I was quite warm whenever I used this jacket, but never too hot or clammy since this regulates your temperature so well. All in all, I have no doubt that this will be a go-to jacket for not only outdoor adventures, but casual, everyday, and travel use as well. The Helix is still excellent by all means, and I'll still be using it for similar purposes (since those side panels can vent some extra heat) but the Hyperia Lite is better at blocking the wind all the way around, and of course, packs down much lighter. I haven't been able to test its insulation extremes yet given the season, but, again, it's feeling just a touch warmer than the Helix so I have no doubt I'll be quite comfy being active even when it's around freezing. Thank you Icebreaker - nice jacket!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Money for trekking and putzing around I love everything I've ever had from Icebreaker and the idea of a super thin puffy with merino fill was intriguing. Wanted something good for those high route nights and mornings and got exactly what I wanted. It's so light and comfy with just a tee. I wear it around in boring part of my life too when it's in 30's and 40's with just a tee and it's perfect. Throw one more mid-layer under it and you could stay out in this for hours. The only thing is the zipper is a bit annoying to get started, but so am I so what are you gonna do? Absolutely great product I highly recommend. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from To Everest My wife and I made the trek to Everest base camp in October and wore Hyperia Lite jackets the whole time. What drew us to them was how small they packed yet were rated by others as very warm, comfortable and packed small. On the trek we experienced temps in the 20's only a couple days so the jackets were perfect. In fact so perfect that my wife hinted close to Christmas that she would like the Hyperia Lite Hybrid Hooded jacket and Santa Clause stuck one in her stocking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My perfect go-to I bought a jacket for travel and spent many weeks looking for the perfect one. I found it in this one. It’s super comfortable, keeps me warm on the coldest of days. I feel no wind leaking in and it helps regulate my body temperature when going from warm to cold situations. Do yourself a favor and give it a shot, you won’t be disappointed. Another Icebreaker winner!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Jacket That Survived San Francisco Fog I needed a light but warm jacket to handle the cold SF weather. My other jackets were too light or too heavy. This is light , fits well, is comfortable, and is warm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MERINOLOFT HYPERIA LITE JACKET Very comfortable and warm! Love it! My disappointment is that it's sized small, and I bought a Large. It's simply a big too snug across the upper back, across the shoulders. I'm an average build...160 lb, 5' 9", so nothing unusual here. I really don't know how they fit it, but I've run into this problem before.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light, warm, packable, and durable Solid performance. I run commute every day, and needed a jacket that I could stuff in my run pack and which would keep me warm in the city and at night on the way home. This puffy does a great job. The fit is excellent, pockets are all appropriately sized, and so far it seems very durable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible warmth to weight ratio I bought this piece mainly to use it as a mid layer piece for guiding. After wearing it a few times, It has become my main “go to “ piece. Very light , packable, and extremely warm for its weight. I would like to see this jacket with a hood . The material is very comfortable and slips well under main outer layers. Really, really nice piece!

What is the weight of a Medium? AND do not say light weight.

Asked by: JimB
Hey there JimB, great question! This is a great light weight jacket! Sadly I don't have any mediums with me to physically weigh, but really, the large comes in at a very light 13.4 oz. I hope this info helps!
