DWR tech

Durable Water Repellent
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Icebreaker MerinoLOFT

Icebreaker MerinoLOFT
MerinoLOFT is lightweight insulation created from premium, ethically-sourced wool fibers. Ten percent of the loft comes from recycled merino offcuts salvaged from the factory floor, while the jackets’ water repellent shell is made from recycled polyester. MerinoLOFT garments are Icebreaker’s warmest-ever jackets, and are ideal for lightweight layering. Icebreaker is using the latest technology to build the next generation of high performance merino.

Product Reviews
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Update I’d like to provide an update to my previous review in which I criticized the length of the sleeves as too long on me. I actually own 3 Stratus X jackets, however, I originally didn’t give them a fair wearing until now and the sleeve length on me is actually excellent. When I originally reviewed the jacket, I wore just a thin merino base layer underneath and the sleeves were rather long. However, I’ve since worn a heavier fleece top underneath the jacket, which is more appropriate for cold temps, and the sleeve length is perfect The added length of the Stratus X sleeves is taken up by the layering. Also, when I stretch my arms out in front of me, the added length enables the sleeves to cover my wrists, whereas if the sleeves were shorter, they wouldn’t cover my wrists. So, I’m deservedly giving the Icebreaker Stratus X 5 Stars. I’m 6’2,” about 160 lbs, 42” chest, 34” waist, 35” sleeve length, and the large size fits like a glove.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light as a feather, warm as a blanket I’m a new IB customer and wore the Stratus X jacket for the first time during a cold New York City morning walk, temp in the low 30s, slightly windy, partly cloudy, and I was comfortably warm Amazing, considering the lightness of the jacket, which replaced my usual heavyweight down parka. Underneath, I wore my new IB 320 merino quarter-zip. The Stratus X definitely proved its functionality during a 90 minute walk, and it’s very stylish, as well, fitting me perfectly, especially in the chest and sleeves, including sleeve length. My physical specs are 6’2”, 170lbs, 35” waist, 35” sleeve length. The Stratus X also has seriously high-quality workmanship. I’m impressed with the meticulously clean, straight stitching, detailing such as differing textures in various parts of the jacket, and even an inner cuff, which is a rarity these days. There are jackets from competitors costing much more money that do not have this feature One very well-known competitor’s jacket has cheap elastic at the cuffs. All in all, I LOVE my Stratus X jacket. It would be worth it at twice the price and even more.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from LIght and warm I bought this for daily use, especially in cold weather at New York early morning. It is not only light in weight but also make you warm at the temperature between 1 to -3 Celsius. Though the underarm is a little bit tight but will not have impact on your movement. Like it very much.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Product Weight is WAAAY Off! Just got a men's medium delivered and was excited to have something that used merino loft insulation to replace my down jacket for all of my outdoor activities. At the stated weight for a men's medium at 13.75 ounces it would have been comparable to my down puffy (albeit a bit heavier), but the men's medium I received is a full 1 lbs 10 ounces (or 26 ounces) or double to stated weight! Unfortunately at this weight, I can only use it around town: /

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good and comfortable Jacket The jacket it's great!!! the only disappointment it's the size. I am a medium size with Icebreaker but this jacket fits a little big and loose in my body, I wish it will be more slim fit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great jacket with skinny cut Warm. Comfortable. Feels very nice. Somehow odd cut: Long sleeves and back but very tight around armpits.

Hi! I am 170CM and 70KG, Which size is fit for me? S or M? I purchased the small shirts of the same brand before. That is fit for me

Asked by: zhang
Hey there, thanks for your question. If you are looking to be able to add a few layers underneath this, Id suggest a medium, but if you are happy with the technical fit commonly found in icebreaker garments, I would stick with a small. I hope this helps!
