Rated 2 out of 5 by from Super comfortable, unique color, terrible pockets Back in 2009 I was turned on to Icebreaker. By the end of 2012 I counted over 60 pieces in my drawer. Unfortunately, over the years I have been let down with many of the design decisions. A good example is when they started putting cuffs on a majority of their t-shirt sleeves, which looked juvenile. Luckily that has been phased out over the years. After reaching out to provide feedback on numerous occasions, I learned that Icebreaker design team was working 3-ish years out. For this reason, feedback is appreciated but doesn't make any sort of near-term impact. Although I stay up to date with their new collections each season, it is rare for me to find something I like that isn't a base layer, zip up jacket or a vest. After undergoing a hip surgery this spring, I found myself on the hunt for a comfortable and technical pair of shorts to wear around the house as well as around town once I got back on my feet. I was pretty excited when the Utility Explore Shorts launched. I was especially drawn to the unique ‘Flint’ color. Shortly after receiving them, it quickly became clear that pockets were in desperate need of a redesign. As soon as I sat down, anything that I put in my side pockets immediately hit the floor. I also found that after wearing them a couple of times, the material started to stretch and the opening of the side and rear pockets became droopy which significantly impacted the clean aesthetic of the shorts. If you value your valuables, you’ll need to pull them out of your pockets before sitting down or simply look elsewhere for shorts because these will be a letdown

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Utility Shorts I just purchased these shorts and they are now my favorite "go-to" shorts--if fact, I've been wearing these shorts everyday since they arrived ! Very comfortable and the Icebreaker blend of merino wool and Tencel makes them even more useful in the warm weather or indoors lounging around. I have a size 36" was it and ordered an XL because some Icebreaker products run small, but these shorts run "true to size" and could have been happy with a Large; but the XL works well with the draw string and like the looser fit + I do not have issues with the pockets. Highly recommend

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very comfy, a little big in the waste I really like these shorts so far. I've only worn them around the house, but they are very comfy and dry and exactly what I was looking for. The only thing is that they run big in the waste. I love Icebreaker but I find their sizing is all over the place. I'm 6' 2" and 185 lb or so with a 32" waste and I purchased the medium, but the waste is too big. It seems crazy for my size, but a small might work better. The shorts do have a draw string so maybe that's why the waste size is on the bigger side.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Partner loves these and looks great in them Super flattering and stylish. We got the plain grey. Far exceeded my expectations. Really great length and width for a guy who doesn't want to go suddenly to micro shorts but wants to look more on trend than his old long baggy shorts. Perfect for wearing at home and he says they are cool and light, even in Southern California summer heat. He has been wearing his one pair nonstop for months and they still look brand new. I want to buy more but they are out of Medium. Please restock!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great comfort, decent looks [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great comfort with that silky-soft hand that only fine-spun merino wool can provide. Not a fan of outside the waistband drawstrings but worn with a tee shirt not tucked in the drawstring isn't visible. Just the right cut to be comfortable without being too baggy (size L on a 5'10" 180 pound, 34" waist).

He usually wears between large to an xlarge depending on the item. I went with the xlarge and they were perfect, maybe a little snug because the waist band feels thicker/tighter.
