Icebreaker MerinoLOFT

Icebreaker MerinoLOFT
MerinoLOFT is lightweight insulation created from premium, ethically-sourced wool fibers. Ten percent of the loft comes from recycled merino offcuts salvaged from the factory floor, while the jackets’ water repellent shell is made from recycled polyester. MerinoLOFT garments are Icebreaker’s warmest-ever jackets, and are ideal for lightweight layering. Icebreaker is using the latest technology to build the next generation of high performance merino.

DWR tech

Durable Water Repellent
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Product Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from parka perfection! So glad I finally bought this coat after coveting it for so long! I'm allergic to down and have been looking for a good alternative to the puffy, stuffy parkas I use during shoulder seasons and around base camp in the evenings. This thing is INCREDIBLY warm without feeling suffocating - and the exterior fabric is sturdy and high quality, like I've come to expect from icebreaker. I love the dual zipper, and the more forgiving shape that will allow a sweater when the weather calls for it. Plus it just looks good. A modern cut in a beautiful color - sporty but classic without making you feel like a marshmallow. A gem.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice in Theory I really wanted to love this coat! I was excited about a coat that could keep me warm in Wisconsin winters without the bulk that you get with a down-filled jacket. Unfortunately, the cut and sizing of this coat is off. I'm 5'7", 130 pounds. I ordered a small and it was much too tight in the shoulders as well as at the bottom - it really restricted movement. So I sized up and tried a medium, which was just huge on me. The sleeves were unusually long, the pockets were too high, and the belly of the coat poked out in an unattractive way. While the fit is off, I will say the curry color is really beautiful and the coat is definitely high quality with super soft pockets lovely dark grey merino wool lining. Bummed it didn't work out!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but not great Slightly small over chest. Nice style and color and fabric. Not water repellent (although sold as such). Didn’t meet my expectations due to getting wet after a few minutes in drizzle. Still a favorite, just not what it was advertised as (durable water repellency). Can’t take the changing New England weather.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A few things would make this jacket great. I tried a medium and a large (I'm 5'4", curvy ,145lbs and a 38c)... as one review stated, it is a dog walker of a jacket. I agree with the description being nostalgic outdoor, but the winter style part is void as it has no shape with a narrow chest and bulky lower back. The hood is roomy and there is no collar, so when zipped all the way up with hood down, it's very bulky around the neck. The DNA of the jacket is amazing!... just wish it was more on the cute side rather than NFL winter sidelines coach's jacket. I'll add the lining fabric is great yet grippy on whatever you may be wearing. IB, please try again!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor fit, cheap construction I've been wearing previous versions of Icebreaker's long, MERINOLOFT-filled coats since 2015 or so. I have two of the earlier versions which were well-fitting and well-made. This model is ill-fitting,the arms are ridiculously long, it's overall unflattering (note how the jacket is tight over the model's hips in the video - was the same on me) and the quality of the outermost nylon fabic and the construction is also poor (fabric looks cheap and the two arm lengths were different!). It also felt lighter than the previous model, the long Helix (I think), making me wonder if they cheap'ed out on the fill too. Began wearing Icebreaker over Smartwool years ago because their quality was better. Have been wearing Icebreaker's base layers, outer layers (3 coats) and socks for years. Nearly everthing i ordered this year has been returned be be because of the noticeable drop in quality. Note to Icebreaker - go back to the archive, examine the quality and try to go back to it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best coat ever! Im so glad I bought this coat! I have had bad luck with finding a truly warm coat, living in Vermont. From the moment I put it on it was warm and comfortable. I dont need 3 sweaters under my coat. It blocks the wind very well. I was out in -3 the other day and felt comfortable inside this coat. Its light weight too! Handled the downpour I got caught in yesterday. I stayed warm even when wet. Im so happy with this purchase!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new favorite go to coat for wearing around town I was looking for a 3/4 coat and my Collingwood 3/4 Jacket fits the bill. It’s just the right combination of pretty and practical that has me going for it every time I go out the door. It’s warm and the wool breaths to make it comfortable in temperature changes. It has a modern style with simple but elegant details that I like a lot. It fits on the looser side which works good if I’m layering underneath. I’m very happy with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking for an elegant coat for wearing around town.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from One of my favourites I have the midnight version. The colour at the wrist and neck become darker, and stay darker, even after washing. After just 1 washing the coat wasn’t waterproof anymore. I love these coats ( I have several over the years) and I love it is a bit bigger. But I really wish icebreaker would think about the materials on the outside. It really looks cheap. But the wearability is really awesome. I keep looking at other brands with coats that I like more in fit and outer materials, but none wears so fine as icebreaker.
