DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Pertex Quantum

Pertex Quantum
Pertex Quantum is lightweight, windproof and abrasion resistant. Its strength-to-weight ratio is optimized to protect your insulation and maximize loft, thus trapping more warm air. This all adds up to you being warm and cozy.

Pertex Quantum Air

Pertex Quantum Air
Quantum Air fabric is lightweight and breathable. Focusing on increased air permeability, it lets air in, allows body heat out, while still providing wind- and water-resistance for high-output activities on the mountain.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from mixed fabric, mixed review Initial impressions: lightweight, breathable, low-profile, moderately insulating. I am gearing up for hiking in Scotland, and this jacket sounded promising for the changeable and frequently wet conditions. Indeed, the main fabric of this jacket sheds water nicely (ran water over it in the sink), but 75% of the back is not covered by that fabric, but by a meshy fabric with holes that actually absorb and then slowly leak water (determined following the sink experiment). I question the utility of putting a DWR finish on only part of the jacket--maybe the idea was that the mesh would be covered by a pack? It is not clear from Icebreaker's product description, but "strategically placed laser-cut holes" on the back section = "eyelet mesh corespun fabric", as in the lining. So, a backless jacket. Superb for exerting oneself in dry, windy conditions. No go for Scotland rain, at least not as an outer layer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favorite Go To Windreaker for cooler weather I was blown away by the softness of inner and outer material of this slick jacket. The picture online does not do this windbreaker justice. I chose the metal/black and it looks elegant yet cool. My recommended size was M which feels a bit on the generous side. I love the oversized pockets. I haven't tried it in rainy weather yet. I am 5'7" 125 lbs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great comfort and color I love my new windbreaker! The lagoon color looks great. I'm in between sizes XS and S - this time I got XS and it fits nicely with enough room for layers but without looking baggy. The coat is very lightweight and keeps me warm and comfortable without overheating. I intend to jog in it in winter and take it on my upcoming trek in the Himalayas. Pairs very nicely with FLUID ZONE LONG SLEEVE ZIP. Quality product. Thanks Icebreaker!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A cozy way to run! I like it. It's a nice jacket, but I docked it one star for the price. I bought this as an outer layer for running in Seattle's damp, chilly times. I wear this with a T-shirt only, although for chillier days below 40, I'd probably wear a thermal base layer under it. It's got nice deep pockets and stays nice and dry. No stink either. My one suggestion to improve it would be to have those snuggly fold over cuff/mitten-etts on them to tuck away your fingers when you haven't gotten completely warmed up yet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Coriolis Windbreaker Very nice jacket: good quality, perfect for a rainy day, doesn’t wrinkle, like the hood feature. I wish Icebreaker would offer more of casual/everyday styles, maybe even on a dressier side.
