Very nice![This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have hiked nearly 80 miles in these on the very rocky, and sometimes slick, Ouachita Trail. Very good traction. I don't think I slipped a single time. The upper is dirty but shows no signs of wear. I like the roomy toebox. The laces are long but they stay tied. I would like to try a shoe with the same sole and coating on the upper but minus the goretex. I think these would be too hot much above 60 degrees.

Great boots[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It is important to understand what this boot is and what it is not.
What this boot is: a world class compromise of weight, traction, comfort and support.
What this boot is not: a full leather super supportive monster truck boot for 100 lb pack carrying.
With that out of the way I will say this is an excellent boot. It has a bit of a trail runner feel and my size 12 boots are 458g each on my scale. This is absolutely huge for making you feel fast and nimble.... I know what you're saying... I can read the spec sheet.
Here is what's not in the spec sheet: thaws shoes have a last design that creates near out of the box perfection for forefoot flex while providing heavy boot style foot protection. The foot protection has been more than adaquate for me (fully loaded with pack I am about 200 lbs)
They are gore tex, as there is no other option, this definitely compromises breathability, but mine have never leaked. If I had a choice for the same boot without gtx I'd have bought that, but alas, this is what they made.
The uppers are made from a super abrasion resistant fabric, which is honestly a really nice touch. A common weak point of non leather boots is the upper material not holding up to the reality of rocky terrain.
The rubber is excellent, a carbon blown rubber (I believe as most innov8s are) which is an excellent compromise of tacyness and durability. In practice these boots are near flawless on dry trails in the southwest and even wet rocky terrain. It would not be my boot of choice for a super muddy or snowy area however.
The heal pocket is not extremely deep, most of the heel grip comes from superb lace grip and a higher ankle opening. A deeper heel poker might help with suction prone trail conditions like mud, but again these wouldn't be my boot of choice. The toe box is taller and wider than many which I find nice as it allows some good wiggle room. I would say this boot stands out with the best lacing system of any ultralight boot. Fully locking in the fit with the laces is easy and super secure.

Outstanding kit![This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These INOV-8 boots are the real deal. Just put them through punishing training in extreme conditions while travelling across Norway. Not only did their performance exceed expectations but my feet never felt compromised or fatigued. Highly recommended without reservation.

Good hiking boot[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These boots fit on the large side. I bought the same size as my Parkclaw trail runners (the Parkclaw fit on the tight side) and found the Roclite Pro G 400 to have much more of a generous fit despite being the same size, with more than enough room for thick socks and then some. They are very comfortable and require no breaking in and have flawless waterproofing so far. The grip seems to be excellent on everything except for ice but I'm not sure any boot has any grip on ice without wearing spikes. So far the treads seem very durable despite a bit of city use on snowy days so hopefully the graphene makes a difference in terms of sole wear.
A few things I noticed that were interesting - unlike other boots I've worn, the surface does not have a DWR coating, meaning the ceramic material will absorb water, but not much and the Goretex keeps it off of my feet, but it just surprised me that water did not bead and fall off the shoe. I emailed Innov8 and they say it is normal. I tried using some Nikwax on them but that didn't help, still absorbs water.
Also I find them roomy and not very rigid so I found my foot sliding forward on inclines and my toes jamming into the end a bit. I solved it with some creative lacing (look up surgeon's knot) but it was worrying me a bit at first.
Overall a good hiking boot but I have not done any really intense treks in them yet. Looking forward to really giving them a good test in the spring.

US MENS SIZE
CM Insole Length
Inov8 FIT NOTES We'd recommend looking at the size guide which shows the approximate length of each size's insole in centimetres.
If you already have a hiking boot, running shoe, or training shoe that fits you well, you could measure the length of the shoe's insole and match this with the size guide.
Alternatively, you can measure the length of your foot and add between 1 and 2cm to find the correct insole length. It is hard to be exact here, as sizing is so personal - but in hiking boots, running shoes or training shoes, we'd recommend having at least 1cm of extra space beyond the end of the longest toe to ensure comfort.
