The La Sportiva Spantik Boot is a double boot for high peaks and cold mountaineering conditions. Where one boot is good, two better. You don't wear just one layer on your body, so why would you treat your feet with anything less? Of course there is certainly a time and place for other options, but the inner and outer boot combination offered by the Spantik is top-notch when it comes to warmth. Speed lacing on both helps decrease the time it takes to pile on the gear, plus the outer boot is step-in crampon compatible. Gotta love those heel and toe welts. The rubber rand protects against the harsh terrain and a Vibram® Montagna outsole is durable and tough. Time to start checking those peaks off your list.

Product Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable, Toasty, and not so heavy [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this boots with the warm in mind because i am skinny so usually i have cold hands and feet. Knowing these boots would keep me toasty up to 7000 metters. i used by now twice and, the only thing i can say is BOY, I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER! Really, i used my boots in Cotopaxi (5900m), with a heavy blizzard and -15°C. and no cold at all. again i used in another mountain where i was standing most of the day in glacier with no activity for quite a fair time because i was attending a high mountain training and only was using a medium weight socks and i have not suffered from blisters, or cold feet, or anything at all. When i got to do some ice climbing, these boots stood perfectly, they are rigid but comfy, maybe a bit bulky but i dont care at all as far as i can wear my gaiters too. Finally, compared to the plastic rigid boots, or some leather semirigid, this are kind of lightweight. By the way, when buying La Sportiva footwear, check the EU size (i got the EU44.5 because the usual US10 size for me in this case were too small), because the US size runs small. For me, these are the perfect mountaineering boots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from awesome boots! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] very comfortable boots, the external lacing system is perfect, you don't have to take off your gloves on those cold days, just a good tug on a single lace and you are done.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love these boots [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I did so much research on what boot to get for us across the widest range of altitudes and alpine conditions and I will never consider another boot now that I've experience the La Sportiva Spantik. They are light, warm, easy to use with gloves, use with crampon, snowshoes, alone and as durable as any boot I've owned. Can't go wrong with these boots!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Fitting Boot [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Recently took my newly purchased Spantiks up a local mountain in snow. They felt great. No hot spots and very comfortable. Only reason I am not giving them a 5 out 5 stars is because I don't love the lacing system. It is tolerable but would I would rather have a more traditional lacing system. Next stop is Illampu in Bolivia.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome boots [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These boots are exactly what the other reviewers say. They are comfortable and warm. The fit the crampons with ease and also fit my bindings in my snowboard. Was looking for a dual purpose boot to mountaineer in and snowboard down. They are pricey but worth the money and have good quality construction. S

LA SPORTIVA SIZE and FIT NOTES
• La Sportiva footwear is built and offered on European half sizes, which are smaller increments than US half sizes. This gives them four extra sizes per size run, and ultimately gives you a better fit.
• Find your US Size in the guide above, then find the Euro Size conversion and ADD ONE HALF SIZE.
• The ideal size holds your toes ever so slightly away from the front of the boot while the lacing system is snug across the top of your arch.
• If you can try to boots on beforehand, make sure you wear the same size and weight socks you would typically wear with the boots, and any orthotics or custom footbeds you use.
• It is ideal to fit boots later in the day since feet are prone to swell slightly as a day progresses.
• Wear your boots indoors only until you are confident about the fit.
• Your foot should feel snug (not tight) from the arch back into the heel pocket with just a minimum lift as you walk. If your heel lifts make sure the lacing is snug and not too loose.
• Your toes should NOT touch the front of the boot, but when you kick the toe into the floor, you should know where the front of the boot is. You want just enough room to wiggle your toes.
• If your toes or sides of your feet feel squished, most likely the width is too narrow and the boot will not work for you.
• If your toes touch the front of the boot, most likely it is too short and you need the next half size up.
• Make sure to keep all original packaging that came with your boots until you are sure that you are happy with your purchase.
