Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality garment I just purchased this jacket to replace one from another outfitter that lasted for years but is no longer available. This Marmot compares well. Great fit, light weight, true to size, and very warm. Not a lot of room to layer, but enough for a base, thin t-neck and vest. Nice pockets. Nice looking and true to color as advertised. Needs a double zipper or a little elastic in the waist band to allow sitting without unzipping. The hood design is very good. Snug when employed and folds down compactly when not. Obviously, I can't attest to durability but it appears to be well made. Price is fair. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from light and comfy... the second time around the block with this particular down hoody since the former had enough duct tape and cloth patches to warrant a new Marmot jacket. certainly one of Marmot's warmest down jackets available for a very reasonable price due to name recognition and the quality reputation factor in outerwear.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Terrific Climbing Layer [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this jacket recently to replace a down jacket that was 16 years old. Man, have they improved down jackets over the years! As a climber I am always after a jacket with a hood. This one fits easily over my helmet and is not too baggy without it. The fit is close enough to fit well under my hardshell (Marmot Exum Ridge Jacket) and roomy enough to easily go over my active layers. It is terrific as a belay jacket for both ice and rock climbing, and is great for hanging out around camp. The fill content is generous (5.7 oz of 700 fill down), which puts this jacket right in the sweet spot for a mid-weight jacket. There are heavier weight down jackets out there, but they are so warm that they end up in the closet for all but one or two days a year. Mid weight down jackets are way more versatile and spend a lot more time in your pack or on your body. The Pertex Quantam shell is strong, light, and totally wind proof. As yet I haven't had to "test" the quality of the down defender treatment, as I'm pretty careful with my down jackets. My only minor complaint is that the hood doesn't have any adjustment ability. A simple peripheral cord (like you have on the Minimalist Jacket) would make it perfect. One feature the jacket has that is not in any of the product descriptions is that it stuffs into its own interior chest pocket and has a carabiner loop. It makes it super easy to stuff it and clip it to my harness when I'm moving, and re-deploy it when I stop. Also makes a nice pillow! All in all I am very satisfied. I've had zero down leakage in this first season of use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So warm! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this a few weeks ago and it has come in very handy for the early winter we are having in Montana. This jacket fits true to size and is keeping me very warm!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome...and perfect for layering! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this jacket as a base layer for use under a waterproof shell as my primary winter jacket combo. I've had it almost 10 months and it's been fantastic so far. Most down hoodies have issues with shedding their insulation. I have not seen this happening hardly at all since I've owned it and it's kept me warm when it counted. Even though it is lightweight enough for layering, it's stout enough (has great loft) to serve as a standalone winter jacket. Also, I'm a 6'5" 240lb dude and finding jackets with a sleeve length that will work is often a challenge. I got the XXL and it was just the ticket. I'm so glad I ordered. Marmot has come through for me again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light and Warm [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this two months ago and I’m in love. It’s light but incredibly warm. I’ve paired it with a light fleece in below freezing temps and I felt comfortable. The side pockets are big enough to hold the essentials, and there is an interior pocket as well. The hood isn’t too tight, so it doesn’t feel awkward wearing it. The only down side is the inherent tear risk which exists for most puffy jackets. Not something I would wear through thick brush, but great for everything else.
