GORE-TEX Paclite

GORE-TEX Paclite
GORE-TEX Paclite is the gold standard for lightweight, breathable elemental protection. Paclite jackets are extremely packable and great to have on hand for windy or rainy conditions. They'll keep your torso dry and comfortable.

GORE-TEX fabric technology

Garments made with GORE-TEX® fabric are durably waterproof, windproof and highly breathable, providing reliable weather protection and maximum comfort for a wide range of activities. These garments keep your body dry by allowing perspiration vapor to escape so you remain cool during activity and warm during cool-down.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I want to love it Fits great, details are awesome, construction is bomber. It's got the right ingredients for a piece of classic gear. However, the outer fabric has ceased to shed rain after like 4 months of owning it and pretty modest use. I've washed it (per Curly's advice) and dried it to reactivate the DWR coating, but after about 60 seconds in even light rain, the moisture stops beading and the fabric just drinks it up. I end up a little chilly and clammy in no time. What gives? I feel like a Gore-Tex jacket shouldn't need re-waterproofing after the relatively minimal use this one's seen. I'ma keep it, since I shelled out for it, but I was hoping for more. Come on, Marmot. (Or Gore-Tex. Whoever the guilty party is.)

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Soaked I've had this jacket for a few months and have worn it only in light rain conditions. After maybe two times wearing it I noticed parts of the jacket wetting out and I would end up wet and clammy on the inside. I cleaned the jacket and renewed the DWR coating which lasted a few weeks and now any precipitation just soaks right through all around the neck, shoulders and arms. If I have to choose some pros, the large is a perfect fit on my 5'10" 190 lb frame and the hood adjustability is awesome. But in all I am extremely disappointed in this jacket because it doesn't do the one thing it is supposed to do - keep me dry!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not waterproof ! I bought the Minimalist jacket with GORE-TEX® Paclite technology because it is advertised by Gore-Tex to be waterproof and lightweight. I wore it for 6 weeks hiking in the Canadian Rockies in September-October, with cold weather and heavy rain conditions. It is certainly lightweight and wind proof, but certainly not waterproof. During the first rain the water beaded on the jacket, but on the second time and onwards the material just absorbed the water. This is particularly so around the upper arms and shoulders. I would not recommend this jacket for anything but a light shower and wind.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a very fine packable This is a very fine packable rain jacket. The hood adjustments work well with or without a hat. It stays in place once correctly fitted to your head......none of that slide over your eyes when you turn your head just right. It has a firm and articulated brim to keep the rain off of your face too. Given the fact that the outer skin of GORE-TEX Paclite can be found in other high end brands, it comes down to fit and features. I like the full pit-zips and the manner in which the the cuffs can be secured also.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Jacket I just purchased this jacket so I have not been able to get out and use it in the rain and snow just yet. But I did want to mention the size and fit of this jacket. It fits a bit slimmer then I had anticipated, which might make layering in the winter snugger then I would like it to be. Otherwise I think this is the best deal on the market for a Gore-Tex Paclite rain jacket. The hood is a good size for a casual around-town jacket. The construction of the jacket is very solid, Marmot makes a beautiful product. If you want a gore-tex paclite jacket but dont want to spend close to 300 bucks on an Arcteryx or 250 on a patagonia, this is the way to go.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not waterproof This jacket is not waterproof. Enough said. (Just in case you do want to know the details -- it kept me dry maybe once or twice in light showers, never in heavier rain. It leaks through the seams and through the fabric and the pockets fill with water. Waste of money.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good jacket at a good price I have owned this Jacket for several years now. It has been with me on several adventures across North America. It has held up well and keeps me dry for the most part. My only complaint is the DWR treatment wears off quickly. It seems that I have to reapply about twice a season. The heavy usage area where the pack shoulder straps come across and hip belt seem to soak easily. Also with the name Minimalist you would expect it to be lighter. Over all though I love this jacket and it has done me well over the last several years keeping me mostly dry and comfortable with its venting system.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not even water repellent! As an avid outdoor enthusiast, I was so excited to get this high-tech product, on a tight budget, to keep dry and warm. However, within the first year the rain and moisture from snow penetrated the fabric. I did follow the washing instructions! I am SO disappointed and discouraged to have put out so much money on a fixed income, hoping I could finally be comfortable outdoors. Not worth the money!!!
