Product Reviews
Rated 3 out of 5 by from I want to love it Fits great, details are awesome, construction is bomber. It's got the right ingredients for a piece of classic gear. However, the outer fabric has ceased to shed rain after like 4 months of owning it and pretty modest use. I've washed it (per Curly's advice) and dried it to reactivate the DWR coating, but after about 60 seconds in even light rain, the moisture stops beading and the fabric just drinks it up. I end up a little chilly and clammy in no time. What gives? I feel like a Gore-Tex jacket shouldn't need re-waterproofing after the relatively minimal use this one's seen. I'ma keep it, since I shelled out for it, but I was hoping for more. Come on, Marmot. (Or Gore-Tex. Whoever the guilty party is.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolute Bomber [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this for 3 yrs now. I wear on-top of Mount Washington in the winter with 80+mph winds and -40° windchill. Doesn’t not disappoint. I also wear Snowboarding, Hiking, Mountain Biking, and camping. It goes everywhere. Pit zips are great pockets are great. Super lightweight and packable. The hood doesn’t completely cover a helmet but it gets the job done. This jacket is so good and so well priced all my buddies are getting them also. I pair it with the Marmot Featherless Hybrid Insulated jacket underneath for the cold days and it’s perfect.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Soaked I've had this jacket for a few months and have worn it only in light rain conditions. After maybe two times wearing it I noticed parts of the jacket wetting out and I would end up wet and clammy on the inside. I cleaned the jacket and renewed the DWR coating which lasted a few weeks and now any precipitation just soaks right through all around the neck, shoulders and arms. If I have to choose some pros, the large is a perfect fit on my 5'10" 190 lb frame and the hood adjustability is awesome. But in all I am extremely disappointed in this jacket because it doesn't do the one thing it is supposed to do - keep me dry!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not waterproof ! I bought the Minimalist jacket with GORE-TEX® Paclite technology because it is advertised by Gore-Tex to be waterproof and lightweight. I wore it for 6 weeks hiking in the Canadian Rockies in September-October, with cold weather and heavy rain conditions. It is certainly lightweight and wind proof, but certainly not waterproof. During the first rain the water beaded on the jacket, but on the second time and onwards the material just absorbed the water. This is particularly so around the upper arms and shoulders. I would not recommend this jacket for anything but a light shower and wind.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a very fine packable This is a very fine packable rain jacket. The hood adjustments work well with or without a hat. It stays in place once correctly fitted to your head......none of that slide over your eyes when you turn your head just right. It has a firm and articulated brim to keep the rain off of your face too. Given the fact that the outer skin of GORE-TEX Paclite can be found in other high end brands, it comes down to fit and features. I like the full pit-zips and the manner in which the the cuffs can be secured also.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Rain Jacket! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was a bit hesitant to buy this jacket after reading some reviews that this jacket was leaky, wetted out quickly, etc. The jacket I received is definitely waterproof. I’ve worn it for about 6 months in Seattle weather without any special washes or treatments and I’ve never been left wet. I’ve taken this jacket on 8 hour hikes in the rain with my phone in the chest pocket and come out dry on the other side. It looks great too! I bought the red in a medium. I’m 5’10”, 160 lbs and it fits nicely. One of my favorite pieces of clothing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Key features eliminated They’ve changed the features that made this product excellent and the reason I purchased first time. Not only is the breast pocket no longer taped they moved it inexplicably from left to right. Apparently they didn’t get the memo 90% of humans are right hand. Then they removed the hood adjustment draw strings along with the waist adjustment draw strings. Why? Money, I’m sure! I would not have purchased had I known. There’s options available with better features from other manufacturers. This was a mistake IMO....considering returning it for refund. Why on earth would you eliminate a good thing?!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A Big Miss Bought this for backcountry skiing and mountaineering in WY ranges. The cut, fit and features are great. The shell material, however, does not work. It is somehow both permeable from the outside but not breathable from the inside. After even mild aerobic activity my jacket is soaked through (even with maximum venting) and it looks just like several of the photos on other reviews. Oddly, the moisture seems to travel along the seams which is not only annoying but dangerous in the altitude and weather conditions I play in on a regular basis. Want to love but it can't.
