The Marmot Men's Scree Pant is a softshell pant for being a scrambling, mountain man. The Marmot M3 softshell fabric is lightweight, durable, resists weather and remains breathable. Whether you're on a spring ski tour or summer climb into the alpine, they'll protect without overheating. Enough stretch to keep you moving naturally in a regular fit that won't be too baggy nor get caught on your gear. Ankle zippers make it easier to adjust around ski boots or get a closer fit when you've got on climbing shoes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Still a great pant, but... I'll start by saying these are an excellent pair of pants. But, I have a pair of the old version that I like a lot more. The back pocket was removed and so were the zippered ankle cuffs. They also changed the logos from embroidery to what looks like a heat-on application which I think takes away from the overall quality and appearance. I think if you don't own a pair of the old style you'll absolutely love these and I'll repeat that they are still a great pair of pants. I just liked the old ones so much I can't give these a higher rating. I'll add that I wear a 36 waist in almost everything. These fit me perfect in a 36 so sizing is spot-on.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Marmot - Return the "Old" Design I have two Scree pants in black from a few years ago. They are the the greatest - I wear them all the time with my Icebreaker wool T-shirts. They have 2 front and one back zipper pocket. And, zips on the two leg cuffs. The embroidered logo is nice but not necessary. But WHY did Marmot remove the back zipped pocket? Place the front side pocket in front and too low? And remove the zippered leg cuffs. A few bad design decisions and some money saving as well. For such an expensive but great pair of pants - scrimping seems embarrassing for such a great brand. And removing the back pocket is just non-sensical. Bring them back and I'll get that 3rd pair in another color.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Scree The new version is sadly inferior to the old version of which I have owned at least 5 pairs and wear all the time . You cut all the great functionality like side leg zippers, belt loops, back pocket, lighter material, cheaper logo. I have scoured the internet for the old product . This is now has gone from an awesome product to a me too product produced by the likes of hip brands like Patagonia, Stio, Arcetryx .. please produce the old version again and charge a bit more if needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Those with Long Legs [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Best pants on the market. In addition to being a solidly constructed pant for 4 season use (I use as a base with a shell on top for Ski Touring), these are the perfect length for some who is 6'4" like me. Most pants in these categories do not fit me from outdoor companies, these fit like a glove. Be warned the 34" inseam is 'long' compared to other brands 34" inseams, so keep in mind when buying. I have now 4 pairs of these because I use them so often for a variety activities ranging from climbing to ski touring to mountaineering to hiking.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from These have been through a cost down exercise I've bought the Scree pant several times over the years and generally, these are 5-star pants. Most comfortable cool weather pants ever. This year they have been put through some cost reduction exercise. The embroidery from the past is now some kind of iron-on, and the materials in and out seem just a bit lower quality than in years past. Still an excellent pair of pants, but not at the level of quality I expect for this price point and just an overall huge bummer that a brand I love like Marmot feels the pressure to do this to their outstanding products.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Why did you do it, Marmot? I've worn these pants for years on many trails and the slopes of mountains from Denali to Rainier to Cotopaxi. Well, I've worn the previous version on those trails and slopes. The changes to the current version are not great. As others have said, bring back the back pocket, move the thigh pocket to the side of the thigh, and put the zips back in the bottom of the pants. Otherwise, the pants are useless.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Close to 5 STARS! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love the fabric and the cut of these pants for climbing. It has the right amount of stretch and the cut is tight so that you don't catch your crampons on your pants or the legs don't get caught on things. Great for alpine climbing, ice climbing or cold weather rock climbing. The cons of this pant are the zippered hand pockets are a little small, they're a little tight for my hands to fit in there and modern big screen phonesdon't fit well (phones do fit in the cargo pocket though). Would be awesome to have 2 cargo pockets as well. Also, the waist fit is a little weir/large. I'm normally a 34x34 or 33x34 and these I'm 32 Long. Great fit though now that I know my size.
