Rated 4 out of 5 by from Stylish jacket, good price, featherless is great The featherless idea is a good direction for Marmot, whose roots are in down. I like the idea of using Thinsulate made with recycled materials and I think the warmth of this jacket is comparable to that of down. The Thinsulate actually holds its loft better and is less compressible than the down in my other Marmot jacket. The shell fabric is pretty windproof although not 100% like Windstopper. I would have given this jacket five stars except for two things. The front zipper really needs to be two way since the cut of the jacket is relatively long. It's frustrating when you get into a car and the jacket is zipped. Marmot always used two way zips once upon a time so cutting out a few pennies here doesn't seem right. I also wish the front chest pocket was on the outside rather than inside. It's a little hard to find and access, especially for quick retrieval of a cell phone. Construction quality is OK although I have a few threads starting to unravel after only a week of use. I would get it again if on sale and I have recommended that jacket it friends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great coat [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this during a sale just before winter hit and am so glad I took the chance. I had been seeing people wearing puffy coats and was never sure about their appeal -- until I bought one myself. This jacket is perfect for adding warmth, either on its own or with layers. It's room enough to put a fleece under, and not so bulky that it makes a shell uncomfortable over it. The Turkish Tile color is amazing and it's so comfortable that my wife stole it. I ended up buying a second one with a hood for me. The only downside we've seen is that they lose a few feathers...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality I bought this coat a year ago, went to wash it and get it ready for the winter season fallowing the instructions. After letting the coat dry the 3M™ Thinsulate™ Recycled Featherless Insulation had clumped in spots all around the coat. The coat did fit well and was warm but it is defiantly not meant to last.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Marmot has made me a fan! I bought the tangerine colored Solus winter jacket. Love the vibrant color, and the fact that the side pockets are zippered is a plus. Internal chest pocket is very handy and roomy. This jacket is a little puffier or voluminous that I expected but I’m down with it. It’ll give you a slight bubble look. I’m 6’2 and about 208, ordered the Large and fits fine. I’ve only been able to use this jacket on a few cold days in the 30’s and it easily kept me warm. Looking forward to trying it next Winter in some freezing cold Chicago weather.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from poor quality control i bought this jacket and noticed some things were off about it like the stitching andone of the sleves being bigger than the other. the jacket is warm though and feels really nice.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm Puffy Bought this without seeing it in person. It's warm and roomy. Too warm for layering while skiing or being active, in anything above zero degrees, for me anyway. It's a little thicker, longer and roomy than I expected. I like the jacket, especially around town where the super-warm insulation keeps things comfortable while I'm not generating a lot of heat. It would be a good warm up jacket to put in a pack for back country use. From the picture on the web site, I did think this jacket would be a bit shorter and more close fitting but the extra room allows for additional layering underneath while the length keeps your waist area well covered, making this a versatile piece of gear for everything from super cold dry days to a layer beneath a water proof shell garment. In warmer temps, you can wear this over just a single base layer and be toasty warm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great coat! Excellent jacket. I opted for the XL although I previously wore a large in another style. Glad I did. This jacket is a little on the puffy side but I live in the mountains and it has kept me warm on 15 degree days. Very happy with it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Too bulky Marmot puffy jackets vary so much, it gets difficult to know what you are going to get until it arrives. This jacket is pretty bulky and the sizing is different than the other jackets I have purchased. I would not recommend this jacket if you prefer the less bulky versions of their puffy jackets. Someday I will learn how Marmot thinks, and then I can order the actual jackets I like. Until then it is pretty hit or miss.
