Questionable durabilityI bought and wore this on a recent week long boundary water paddling trip. Positives are that the fit is amazing, 5’8” 135lb and the small fits my long arms with extra length available. It kept me warm with wool mid layer down to 30 degrees, the internal area of pockets reach up to the chest so quite a lot of pocket space. The only and major negative is the durability of the fabric and stitching. Only after occasional portaging of my backpack the fabric snagged twice and some threads came lose. I was pretty disappointed because it’s such a nice looking jacket and moves well with activity. So maybe not the best choice for outdoor recreation. I would only wear this as a town jacket.

Montana Ann from
Nice JacketI bought this jacket as an alternative to down when hikiing/traveling in wetter climates. I am 120#, 5-4" and the medium fit is roomy enough to permit layering with a light pile and mid-weight top. The sleeves are a bit long, but the elastic wrist band holds them up fine. I have been warm in Montana, down to 25-30 degrees before pulling out a warmer option. I doubt I will take it when I am pressed for space, as it does not stuff as compact as a down jacket, a known fact with thinsulate items. The cut is nice, tapered at the waist and a bit longer than similar style jackets. The Artic Navy is a nice bright color without being too showy.

cold hands from
it's ok, not what I expectedI bought the jacket in Jan to take on a backpacking trip. It is a bit heavier and does not pack down as small as hoped, but it is warm and cuts the wind well. I did not test the claim of it insulating while wet...
Things that I really like are the drawstring around the bottom, deep pockets, and longer sleeves (I tend to pull my hands into the sleeves).
One thing that drives me crazy and I can't understand why they did it, is the padding in the forearms and wrist area of the sleeves doesn't go all the way around. There is a three inch gap of just thin fabric from the seam along the inside of the wrist around the forearm. Hate it when I'm resting arms on a table or driving and using the sleeves to keep my hands warm and have to twist the sleeves around to pad the inside of my arms and hands.

Fantastic jacket[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Jacket is light weight and warm, definitely wind proof. Visited Point Reyes, CA lighthouse and the wind was at least 40-45, if not 50mph. Had to hold on to my friend, so we weren’t blown away. This jacket performed so well. I wasn’t cold and the hood was great also. Totally protected me. I think that said it all! I’m getting an other one as well. It is also very stylish and the form fitting. I just Wish the pockets were lined, but no biggie. I am 40D in chest and the large is perfect.

Lightweight WarmthI purchased this jacket when I was hiking the White Mountains in NH. the mountains are unpredictable weather-wise and that was a big concern to me. I like to stay warm, but I didn't want to carry any more weight than necessary. I reviewed the "How to Stay Warm" on Backpacker website and layering is the key to staying warm. I followed their recommendations and purchased this jacket as part of the 4 part system for staying warm. The jacket is light weight to carry, it is warm to wear, and I am glad it is synthetic. I am sure I will wear this on many more trips. I am always looking for ways to stay warm but without the weight.

Great coat for backpackingI love this coat. This is my second version and it is my favorite. I’m an size 14 woman who is round and short and have issues with most coats but this is built beautifully. I have plenty of room to create loft when I’m out backpacking. My older coat snagged often when i was backpacking so I’ll be watching for that issue when I take this one out. The arms are a tad long on me but I’m ok with it because I like to pull the sleeves over my hands when I’m cold. These coats keep me very toasty in 30 degree weather. It is a great layer for my backpacking set up.

Runs wideI am 5’4” 120 lbs and lean/slim and so based on reviews I got a S. Not sure why people say this has a tight fit, as it is wide and the sleeves are enormous. It bells out at the bottom for wide hips, yet the jacket is too short for that. This is definitely for curvier women, specifically with a short torso - a totally odd fit. disappointed in this coat.

Versatile Jacket!I bought this jacket to wear on an upcoming trip to Norway and Scotland. I have been wearing it for a month in temperatures above freezing. I am warm in these temps but realize that the jacket won’t be warm enough for my trip without layers. I bought the Marmot Kitzbuhel vest in the same color to wear with it. The colors are not quite the same. I am 5’8” and 145 lbs. I bought the medium size to layer but a small would have fit me better. Overall, it’s a cute jacket and I really like that it’s lightweight, warm and easily packable.
