Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect coat I bought this coat a few weeks ago after a fairly extensive search. I live in Michigan and walk to and from work so I needed a waterproof, windproof and warm coat. This fits the bill and more. It's lightweight and very comfortable yet it cuts the wind like nobody's business. I am 5'5" and generally wear a size 4 or 6 but I ordered a medium which is great as I can wear sweaters under it comfortably. I'm not a big fan of companies whose logos are visible before you walk into a room and the Marmot name is done in a subtle color. I've received many compliments on the coat and love it so much that I'm now searching for a Marmot coat for my college-aged son.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Toasty warm The jacket is so warm that I can overlook a few of issues: 1. Without the fake fur around the hood it is a bit cold (why do you make fake fur an integral part -- or even include it -- in a featherless product?) 2. The zipper is a bit tricky as others have mentioned. The key seems to be making sure the bottom part of the zipper is pulled all the way down before trying to zip it up. 3. The collar is pretty stiff and pokes into my chin. Hopefully it will soften with use. 4. I wish there were a way to tighten the waist so that cold draughts would stay below the waist. The pockets are deep, the side pockets for warming my hands are much appreciated, and it has a bit of style, too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mostly pretty good There's a lot to love about this coat. The non-puff, the fabric, the faux fur around hood, the standing collar to keep the wind out, the magnet closures down the front flap and on pockets, the tabs at the wrists, the internal cuffs--all exceptional quality. The zipper is a little funky and has to be angled just so to pull up. It's pretty darn warm, with great features to protect from wind, but I thought perhaps it would be a little warmer still. It's not down, so maybe I'll never get that true warmth that down gives (alas, allergies). It's also very trim--trimmer than I expected. 5' 105lbs, the xs was too small and so went back, the small allows just enough for a sweater. Handsome looking coat. And I like it well enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! I bought the jacket in a medium in the desert color because I loved the orange liner. I was worried desert might be too light of a color but it isn't as light as pictured and actually suits me better. I can clean off the car and get a little dirt on me without it being noticeable. The size is great, I am 5'7" and 135 lbs and I feel like it fits well. At first glance I thought it looked a bit boxy but not so. It's cozy and perfect as an in-between coat. My usual coat is the Montreaux down which I also love but sometimes feels too puffy on warmer days. I haven't tested the waterproofness since it's only snow here in VT this time of year. The zipper is temperamental as many have stated which is annoying but not a deal-breaker.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just what I was looking for I was looking for a jacket that hit at the lower thighs, well insulated, with a attached hood. I was also looking for something more form fitting that did not make you look like you were wearing a potato sack, this coat hit on all of those. I was pleasantly surprised of the magnetic closing pockets, very cool. I have the Ana coat by Marmot and love it, but wanted something a bit warmer. Love the olive color and the teal on the inside of the coat. Now for the negatives. While the sleeves are the perfect length I do not care for the Velcro closing on the sleeve. It always comes undone and down the road I can see it not working at all. Most of all, I HATE the zipper, c'mon Marmot you cant' do better than that for a zipper at this price point? It is one that allows you to unzip from the bottom so when you sit it is not tight. I never use that feature for the jacket is loose enough not to do so. I am always fumbling to zip my coat up. I get excited when I get it on the first shot. So other than those two annoying and rather huge negative features I have to give this coat 4 starts. Fix those two issues and I would even buy the coat again! Marmot makes a great product all and all.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Coat! I purchased this coat in "Beetle Green" - its a bit darker in person, than on the screen and is a pretty sage color in person. The color of the lining is an interesting choice, but let's face it - we don't buy coats for their lining (or maybe some of us do) - it's not a deal breaker. The coat is well made, and is most definitely wind- and waterproof. I live in New England and since receiving this coat, it has gone through cold temperatures, a blizzard, a failed "four'easter" (ha!), and high winds. I've been warm throughout all of it. The jacket does run a bit snug as indicated in other reviews, and in anticipation I sized up - I'm able to wear a base layer or multiple layers under the coat and be comfortable. I love that it has magnetic closures! The coat only received 4 stars because the Velcro on the left sleeve will not stay latched (straight out of the box), not a deal breaker - but annoying. Not sure what the deal is there, the other sleeve stays in place 100% of the time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Warmest synthetic but frumpy cut For ethical reasons, I'm always looking for synthetic coats that will be really really warm. This is probably the warmest synthetic coat I have ever tried on. However it is not a well-fitted cut just Boxee and puffy and makes me look very frumpy. I am 5'8" with a curvy hourglass figure figure and prefer a more tailored cut. In the pictures it looks like the Chelsea coat has a great cut and I wish Marmot would make a featherless coat like the Chelsea coat
